My set is only 15 mos old. It was working one evening, and the next morning it would not turn on.
I had a authorized Mitsubishi repair outfit come out and take the back off and make a few buzzing sounds.
They said it will cost $900 to fix it. It cost $1600!
The little green light will blink for about a minute when either pluged in or the pin is pushed.

What a great tv this is Mitsubishi did a fine job making this one, but......only an authorized mitsubishi servicer should repair it. This set records diagnostic led codes that the technician receives to help determine where the problem might be, not the problem, but in which circuit it might be. The one thing to try is, unplug the tv , let it set for a minute, plug it back in , turn it on and hope it reset the micro. Next , call for mits. service.
I would try leaving the TV unplugged for 30mins so the TV can reset itself.
If that doesn't work, your TV should still be under warranty. I know 95% of come with a 1 year warranty.
The most common problem with Sylvania TVs made by FUNAI, the Backlight Inverter board fails to early in life. ( That's the part that powers the screen)
The Tv can't power up the screen and it turns off automatically. Basically called "Protection Mode" so it protects the other parts inside the TV.
The most common problem with sets was the high voltage transformer which to my knowlege is no longer available. I had a source for good after market transformers but that has even dried up. Sorry for the bad news.
I had the same problem with a WS 55813,2004 model.Paid 130.00 for local Mitsubishi authorized dealer that told me I needed a new DM module at an additional 505.00. Called Sears and they repaired the board for 146.00 by replacing four capasitors on the board. The tech said there is an exolaination on the web that explaines how to do this. He said this is a very common problem and carries 8 caps with him.He even had to do this to his own tv. The caps are worth 8.00 total.
Your problem is one and or 2 differant problems. The power regulator could have went bad because of the convergence IC have shorted. Seen this a thousand(easy that!)Times. All parts in this set are soldered in and are not user serviceable. look in your owners manual or call 800-332-2119 to get an authorized servicer to come and look at your problem . I wish i could tell you what to replace but theres the Extreme Hi voltage inside these sets even when they are not plugged in .. Good Luck
