I have an old mitsubishi tv. It's hooked up to cable. It worked fine this morning. When I turned it back on this evening, all I have is a screen with a dark band across the top, white in the center part of the screen, and a dark band at the bottom of the screen. Nothing is showing on the display. Is it dead?

Dvr not responding

There was a software update early this morning which caused your recvr to go to recovery mode until it downloads the new software which takes about 4 hours. Once this is done you should be just fine!

Nothig bu a blue screen shows when turned on

Blue screen of Death?
No, this is not windoze.

can you change channels?
a blue screen usually means that you don't have a signal.
Is it hooked up through dvd/vcr player?

Try a straight connection to cable or antenna.

If it remains, then it requires surgery.

Same problem, worked fine this morning and then tonight I million green horizontal bars - sound is fine. I think from reading up on this we are doomed. I am so pissed, the TV is not even 2 years old.

Sound but no video

This looks like an internal fuse has blown, or a problem with the start up circuit. It could be just a small mains transformer about 5 cm cube in size has a fault. They have a built in over temperature cut out which may take half hour to reset.
