SOURCE: canon es900 8mm camcorder won't allow tape insertion

Canon ES series camcorder was designed with 1000 hour capacitors on the processor boards. When the time comes these capaictors loose value and create problems for the main computer to communicate with other mechanical system in the camcorder. We were able to service well 7 years ago but the life of these component has aged too much to make it good anymore. I wish I have a better news for you but the success repair on 'ES model is very slim and if repaired, the labor charge may run many times over of the value of this camcorder. You can probably obtain a newer used camcorder at decent price and get all you tapes into DVD quick. Good luck -James

SOURCE: I have a Sony CCD-FX410

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the cassette compartment will not open or the tape is stuck and will not eject.
IMPORTANT: If your camcorder model has a RESET button, first try pressing this button. If there is no RESET button, or pressing the button does not resolve the issue, continue with the troubleshooting steps below.

  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Remove the battery from the camera.
  3. Remove the AC power supply from the camera.
  4. Slide the power switch on the camera to the VTR , VCR or CAMERA mode for 15 seconds.
  5. Slide the power switch back to the OFF position.
  6. Connect the AC power supply to the camera.
  7. Attempt to open the cassette compartment.
Please let me know if that works..

Regards,
Srinivas

Hi 8 Tape Will Not Eject

If you remove the power while the basket is halfway up, you should be able to remove the door. Then look to see if the reels are turning when you try to eject the tape. You may be getting an error code that indicates the reels are not turning for some reason. You can assist the reels turning as the tape is ejected if you stick a small plastic pick or a toothpick into the reels to assist the reels turning and then you may be able to remove the tape.

It won't allow tape !

I had the same problem with my ZR200. It would not accept the tape, even a new one. I happened on this site and read about 20 comments from people who had the same problem. They all solved it the same way. You close camera's LCD screen and turn that side face down. Next you place your left hand under that side, close your right fist and gently slap the top side(cassette side) of the camera with the bottom of your fist. It worked for me the first time and now works GREAT! I had called a repair shop who told me to bring it in for repair and then I was looking on the internet for a replacement camera when I happened upon this site. Yes, I do believe in miracles! Good Luck.

Canon zr300 ejects tapes

There is a fix for this which was posted for either the ZR 200 or 400. They call it the "Fonzie" fix. Just hit the camcorder with your fist on the side where the tape goes in (with the door closed). Hit it lightly once, try inserting the tape. Repeat this process with increasing force each time until this works.

Surprisingly, this worked for me. Obviously, there must be something loose for this type of solution to work. I actually had it working once, then it acted up again. I tried the same solution and it's working again. No problems for several days now.

Error Message Reconect Power even if power is connected

It sounds like the tape door is out of alignment, causing stress on the tape and the inside mechanical system.  Requires a visit to the service shop.

C:32:11 message flashes, cassette eject won't work, camera doesn't work

Just had this problem myself... called Sony. Here is what I did to fix this:

1. Turn off power
2. Open the LCD Display
3. Press "Reset" with paperclip/pen
4. Unplug ANY wires connected to the camcorder
5. Eject battery
6. Plug in DC charger
7. Power on
8. Attempt to eject tape
9. At this point, the metal tape holder comes out but refuses to open... slightly "close" the portion of the camcorder that has the button to eject the tape, and then open it fully again (you'll hear a click, this signals the device that the 'hatch' is open and to eject).
10. The metal door *should* pop out and allow you to withdraw the tape.

I've tried 4 different cassettes and about 2 seconds after hitting play, I get the error every time... my solution: Not going to try to play my tapes on the camcorder anymore... will find another player to play Hi8 MP cassettes. Unknown if able to record to tape as of yet.

Gs36 tape door doesnt open

In case anybody read this....     I have a GS-36 that would not eject the tape. I removed all the screws from the bottom and pulled the bottom plate off. Then I fidgeted with the mechanism near the eject button towards the front of the camera.  In my case it had just become stuck and needed to be gently pried open.    Tested it a bunch of times with tape - seems to be o.k.!
