What I have seen done is people or a shop buy a piece of clear plexiglass and cut it to fit the opening or cover the outer area of the screen frame and attach with velcro.

Yes... and no. The TV should have 2 RCA jacks for audio out (red and white). If you get a "y cable" from your neighborhood electronics store, you could patch it through to headphones. The problem is that the volume level is intended for input into an amplifier, so you might be barely able to hear the sound on your headphones. If you patch the audio into an amplifier, then you can definitely use headphones.

The lamp should be replace to fix the no picture since the lamp light is red.

check the convergance IC is woring properly?

Sounds like the convergence output ICs failed, when they fail they can also open fuses and or resistors.

See if its still under warranty, if it is, call support and tell them.
If its not you can probably get it repaired but this might be expensive. then you best bet would be [I know it hurts] to get a new one.
