Well I think that the gamepack is broken. Or battery that allows you to save your game data is probally dying on you and needs to be replaced. Or you can just buy a new game then.

Some times the springs and plates in the battery compartment need cleaning. Did this to my classic Gameboy and the thing works like it's new.
Extreme cases the Gameboy Color has 2 fuses that can burn from age or voltage input is too high these are easy to replace or just patch if you have skill with a soldering iron.

I would say that the screen is causing the lines in a gameboy colour the lines are not the same like it would be in an orginal gameboy the one with the four batteries. Lines in gameboy color are the screen issues then the whole screen would have to be replaced on the GBC then.

Well, the Gameboy color doesnt produce light. It just shows an image, you have to have a light on for you to see what is going on

It sound like the color or the screen parts inside of the game boy color are not working properly so it would just be easier to buy a new one vs fixing the current one. The current one could be fixed but it might not be an easy fix and the fix might be complicated then.

Well if the battery inside of the game pack is dead then un solder it and resolder the new battery in the battery socket inside of the game pack. To fix a broken game pack you need to find out which piece is broken and ding that specific part from some where would be easier to buy a new game pack

Well if the battery inside of the game pack that alows you to Dave the game data is dead you will have to open the cartiage up with a 3.8 mm bit tool then and unsolder the old battery and resolder the new one to the inside of the game pack or just buy a new game pack then. Jj games.

Well it sounds like the speaker is not working properly so it's the speaker that's doing this not the console it's self then. 2 double AA batteries I use energizer and duracell for mine and do not use re chargerAble batteries either

Well it the machine is off the batteries are off then and will work when it's turned on.

Well technically there is no back light for gameboy colour but gameboy advance SPhas a built in light to it then. You can play gameboy color and original gameboy games on an sp then.

its most likely corroded battery terminals so take the batteries out and clean the terminals with some alchohol and then try. if nothing happens then your gameboy is dead. A cold environment is a good place to store electronics so I don't think it is that. most gameboy problems are caused by ageing of the device.

Unfortunately, the Game Boy color has no backlight, so there's no way to make the screen any brighter. You can change the contrast, but that will only affect how dark things appear on the screen. Sorry.
