Well technically there is no back light for gameboy colour but gameboy advance SP
has a built in light to it then. You can play gameboy color and original gameboy
games on an sp then.

I have a gameboy crystal game and I played it before, but when I went to play it this time the old sound and screen shows up with the gameboy logo, but then the screen goes dark and there is no sound

Possible dirty cartridge interface. Use a Q-Tip and alcohol and clean the interface on the cartridge. Hopefully this will fix your problem. Occasionally the games will corrupt and only partially work. (If this is the case more than likely the game got wet at some stage and the insides of the cartridge have battery leakage and corsion and can be fixed)

My game boy screen is dark

Well, the Gameboy color doesnt produce light. It just shows an image, you have to have a light on for you to see what is going on

My gameboy's screen has dark stripes in it fixable or should i get a second hand/refurbished one?

It sound like the color or the screen parts inside of the game boy color are not working properly so it would just be easier to buy a new one vs fixing the current one. The current one could be fixed but it might not be an easy fix and the fix might be complicated then.

My gameboy startup screen is the startup screen for the gameboy color

That's normal. The gba will play all three generations of game boy games. The start up screen that comes up is that of whichever cartridge you are putting in.

Hi! I am experiencing difficulty with the brightness on the screen of my GameBoy Color. Is there a way to adjust the screen brightness, so that it would be brighter? -Stine

Unfortunately, the Game Boy color has no backlight, so there's no way to make the screen any brighter. You can change the contrast, but that will only affect how dark things appear on the screen. Sorry.

game boy colors have very dark screens.
if you can, get a Game Boy Advance SP.
the screen has light and has a bigger screen.
you can get one at a Game Stop for $30.
Game Boy Advance SP play game boy, game boy color games, too.
if you choose to stay with the GB color, your boys will have to play their GBC's in well lit conditions.
hope this helps ;p
