The only thing that comes to mind is to make sure the antenna is well grounded and to make sure that where it's been re routed that there are no power wires next or close to the antenna wire which can cause interference which will be more noticeable once you turn on the truck.
My connext 4600 Turbo quiets receiving and getting
Well it does sound like a bad solder joint around your crystal, crystal is what gives you your freq.or channels. All I can do to help you without it being on my bench is to tell you to take the screws out the top of the radio, run the radio and when it quits lightly push on the top of the radio and see if that helps,if so it is a bad joint just find a cb shop that will take the time to find it.These are great radio well worth fixing.
I have a Connex 4600
Strange. You shouldn't have a squealing problem with an RK56 noise canceling mic.
Unfortunately there is no way to change the volume of the talkback. Its too loud. The only solution is to turn the mic gain down.
The only reason you need to have talkback on is to check your audio. Make sure the echo is good and what not. After that you really don't need it on. So turn down the mic gain, then check the echo, then turn off the Talkback and turn the gain back up.
The squeal is feedback from the talkback being to loud and being heard by the mic. So the only way to solve it is to lower the volume of the talkback, (Which is not possible in this radio) lowering the mic gain(which lowers your audio level) or turning it off.
Connex 4600 turbo. Poor receive. About 4 mi.
Hi there!!
The Connex 4600 Turbo is a very sensitive radio these radios don't work good at all with the stock microphone! The best microphones are the RK-56 and or the Astatic 636L which most people use and you shouldn't get any squeal. And make sure if that you are using an external speaker get it as far away from the radio as you can facing away from the radio so it wont feedback. As far as a Mod kit there are several ways to modify the radio which most are pretty hard and drawn out. but the most easy that used to be used is as simple as a diode placement in the right place which is old school but still works good. You must be very careful as if you are to slightly touch the wrong points the radio could be destroyed and no longer work so caution is to be taken if you don't know what you are doing please don't try it on an expensive radio!! If you want more info on the mod e-mail me
never the less a Modulation kit or modification wont help your Receive it will only help your Transmit signal!!

Connex 4600 turbo the talk back
THE TALK BACK VOLUME IS CONTROLLED BY THE MIC GAIN, TRY ADJUSTING YOUR TALK BACK VOLUME ABOUT TURNING THE MIC GAIN FROM 12 OCLOCK TO 6 OCLOCK, DO NOT WORRY YOU WILL NOT LOSE ANY OUT BOUND POWER UNLESS YOU TURN THE MIC GAIN BELOW 11 OCLOCK
Owners manual for connex 4600 turbo
to cut down on noise i would hook it directly to the battery. make sure there is a fuse in the power cord first.
