Need to register my Philips MP3 SA3020/SA3021

You can call Philips and register the product with them.
This GoGear is not compatible with iTunes.
You will need to use a converter like Media Monkey to convert those iTunes songs (AAC) format into mp3 format (but it will only convert the unprotected songs).

Then you can use Windows Media Player to transfer the songs to your GoGear.

Hello i want to use

You can charge it by USB, but this player is very finicky.
Make sure you have Windows XP/Service Pack 2 and
Windows Media Player 10

It will not work on any OS or Windows Media Player later than these.

You can try to force recognition by pressing the forward key before you plug it into the PC - after several seconds, it will prompt the Philisp Device Manager to perform a Repair.

If these methods fail, Philips has detailed troubleshooting assistance on their website - don't beat yourself up if it doesn't work, however. Your problem could be hardware-related. If you had called Philips in the first year, you could have gotten in-warranty support, but now it is out-of-warranty.

Files

If you are using a Mac, you just have to empty your trashcan. It will also empty out your computer's trash at the same time.

Mac puts all deleted music in an invisible folder called (.trashes) on the Philips rather than deleting them for some reason so you have to empty it.

If you aren't using a Mac or this does not work it may not be partitioned properly. You should use the software that came with it.

The Philips software doesn't work on a Mac, but you can use Disk Utility. First mount the Philips and use the Partition tab to make it only have "1 Partition" then use the Erase tab to set it to an MS-DOS file system.

I found out that my Philips had two partitions and it was limiting my space so that's how I solved it.

Why is my mp3

This player is not Mac compatible - plugging it into the Mac caused a reformatting to take place. Upgrade the firmware and see if you have better luck, but this player might eb toast.

Philips mp3 SA 4010

50 of the songs are in the wrong format - no iTunes, no DRM-encrypted wMA's, etc. Convert all songs to mp3 format, and you won't have any problems.

Hey my name is jesse

Sounds like a firmware problem.

Run the Philips Device Manager to repair the device. This will format the player and re-load the corrupt firmware.

The player is not Apple compatible so don't plug it in to one.

Freezing up when i hook up the usb cable to my real player

You can try this, but I was completely unable to get a similar model, the SA4111 to work on my computer using any method at all - this was not their best product:

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Make sure you have installed the Philips Device Manager from the product CD. This includes the drivers for the SA4010.

File transfer is done using the Sync function of Windows Media Player.

If you have already installed the software, and are trying to transfer songs with Media Player, try the repair or restore option from the Philips Device Manager. This will format and re-flash the firmware on the player.

If the player still won't take your files, make sure you are using .MP3 or .WMA files. The SA4010 will not take any other formats. (such as .AAC)

If you have the correct file type, then the problem may be due to USB driver conflict. Follow this link for more information:

SA 4010 philips mp3 player

Here's what happened: When you first synced your GoGear to Windows Media Player, you may have set up the automatic sync option. When this option is selected, Windows Media Player will add EVERY song, picture, etc from your Library on your computer to the GoGear. Now, every time you sync you device, it adds every new file from your computer into the GoGear automatically. It will even delete songs from your GoGear that were on there before.

Go into Windows Media Player 11 with your GoGear connected to the computer (it will automatically sync and add new files one last time), move the mouse cursor over to the sync tab; a small black arrow will appear under the word "Sync"; click on the small black arrow and a dropdown menu will appear; select "Portable media device" from the dropdown menu, and another dropdown menu will appear; select "Set Up sync"; a window will appear with some information on your device - uncheck the box that says "Sync this device automatically"; click Finish; This will eliminate the problem of Windows always adding songs/files you don't want into your player.

SAMSUNG YH920GS- Error Message- device cannot initialize hdd

You are missing a critical update from Microsoft that will allow the computer to recognize this as an MTP device rather than an MSD device - this is a new problem that did not exist before.

Try a firmware upgrade, but it may not be successful since the repair was unsuccesssful.

Otherwise, get all the most recent Windows Updates from www.microsoft.com.

If none of the above work, write me back.

Philips SA4010 1 gig really only half a gig!

1 Gb player should have around 894Mb or more of free space. The rest is taken up by the directory and firmware files.

Try running the Device Manager software on the product CD and use the repair option.

Try deleting all tracks and load a non-protected (Non DRM) track.

Not all Philips players will play DRM protected tracks.
