Unable to print and showing an 'unable to print 5A code
There are diffrent reasons for this error:
check, if something sticks in the machine (paper or metal clip)
The paperfeeder clutch gear is broken: check if the paper feeder works well.
The purge station has problems to do the cleaning jobs: gear broken or too much ink within the purge tubes.
Anyway, this problem is hard to handle for a novice due to so many diffrent reasons.
You should contact a service dealer and in case it is still in warranty let fix them.

Unable to clean 46 mfc 490 cw
Hello there muvera.
You are 100% correct. The number of ink purges reached the limit allowed by the printer.
Brother does this because there is a physical ink absorber box that absorbs all the excess ink the printer excretes during normal use. If you just reset the counter, ink will spill all over the inside of the printer, so I would strongly advise against just resetting the counter.
Since it appears like you have enough expertise to open up the printer yourself, you need to replace part number LS4699001. Good luck finding that part, however. As a Brother Authorized Technician/Service Center, I can't just sell you parts to repair it yourself as it is against our merchant agreement.
Your best bet would be to just take it to your local service center or send it to Brother directly.
If you can obtain the part, I will be more than happy to walk you through the reset procedure.
If this post helped you, please comment back and positively rate my solution.
Thanks.

Brother MFC-5440CN wont feed 2 colors of ink, Yellow and Magenta and also says
This may be due to the fact that you have not removed correctly the small label that seals the air input to the cartridge. Normally on brother cartridges it's on the back or on the top of the colored label. Please check that. If no air is allowed in then your ink will not be provided thus generating your problem.
