No audio device
reinstall audio drivers according to your computer model.
if you have windows vista or 7 go to device manager..there look for sounds click on it you will see a drop down menu...right click on it and then click on update drivers.
or click on unistall the device..restart your computer..if its still not picking the sound contact the manufacturer of the computer and get the audio device replaced
I have a nec pentium
pentium 2 is an old computer. windows xp will become so slow and its not compatible. to your
hardware.
try other os like linux, ubuntu lite
it can be use in a slower pc.

After the OS was installed the DRIVERS to the board and the MUSIC players can be installed. The default music player must be checked . Open the AUDIO PROPERTIES and increase the volume.
If not there are errors in the OS, the drivers or the the board. If this is a new PC please get FREE support before anything is tried.

I have a NEC Lavie L LL550/3 that doesn't read
The CD and DVD reading portions of the drive use different sensors, so it's possible it would stop reading DVDs but still continue to read basic (audio) CDs.
The question is, will the same, working audio CD work while booted up fully?
If it does not, it may be a matter of a driver problem; unfortunately drivers cannot be found online for this model. Check this thread and make a post or comment to try to find someone who may have the drivers you need.
