If the light is steady, check the paper in your paper tray (or bypass tray, if that is currently selected). Add paper. If there is paper in the tray, try putting fewer sheets in the tray. If the tray is too full, sometimes the printer can't pick up the paper. Similarly, if the tray is nearly empty, try adding paper. Next consider taking all of the paper out and refilling the tray with paper from a new (just opened) ream. If the paper picks up atmospheric moisture, it can warp and be hard for the pick up rollers to handle.
If these steps don't solve the issue, the problem may be the paper pickup rollers themselves. The printer may need service. (If it is under warranty, contact the manufacturer.)
