Fax can fax out but cannot receive

What do you mean by "cannot receive"?

Can't you even start receiving manually? When someone rings, pick up the hanset and press START button - it should start receiving. Of course no document should be present in the input tray, otherwise it will start sending.

If you can receive manually, then all you have to do is to change the receiving mode between "Auto", "Fax/Tel" or "Fax", to get automatic pickup and receiving.

Every fax we try to send it comes up with a error

Hello.

NG means: Some or no pages sent.

Check the paper feeder to see if the page is pulling through.
Listen to see if the fax line "sounds"like it is working or if you hear dialing or not.

Hope this helps.

What is ecm tx

ECM is basically error correction mode. Tx is transmission. If you're having trouble transmitting, lower the default speed to 14.4kps. Fax transmit best on analog phone lines. Digital lines will work, but unless you have a digital fax modem 14.4 is often the best you can hope for. If you're on a voice over ip max speed is 9600bps and it probably still won't work. Buy an analog phone adapter for VoIP. If you're still having transmission troubles turn off ECM.

Error message: Install toner cartridge

Look at where you install the toner cartridge. There should be a little tab or button or lever that the cartridge pushes once inserted. In fact, there is likely to be several, not counting the doors you opened to get where you are. Often, one of these tabs breaks, or lever bends, or button is misaligned. Just look around where you put the toner in, and ask yourself, "what is this supposed to do?" and as you go, also ask "what is expected that is not happening?"

My Canon L80 is displaying

I assuming that actually dont had a paper jam prior to this message and dont have any paper disappear inside the Fax, then I could suspect the paper mis fed from the tray at the rear. That model can sometimes feed several sheets together or twist the paper as it is pulled into the printer.

Just below the sheet feeder is a jam sensor that is basically a plastic flag that when pushed by the paper breaks a light beam to indicate the paper is passing. If you get a paper jam in a printer it is important that the paper is removed in the direction it would normally feed through the printer.

If it is pulled against the normal flow of the paper then that plastic flag can break or be pulled off of it's hinges and cause a constant jam error. Either there is something still in the printer holding the jam sensor down or this has happened in your case.

There are 3 jam sensors across the path of the paper and 2 of which can suffer this problem. The one I mention and 1 in the fuser at the front. You would use a flashlight and make double sure that there are not obstructions that you can see either at the rear tray or the fuser.

If you can't find anything then the jam sensor are going to need to be checked but the rear jam sensor in particular is hidden beyond easy reach and involves quite a strip down to access so you may want to consider letting a technician do that for you.

If it had fed multiple pages in at once i would consider a new paper separation kit as they are easily fitted when the jam sensor is checked as they occupy the same area. Once multi feeding has started it often becomes frequent.

Hope helps.
