Fellowes 220 Powershred Strip-Cut Shredder Questions & Answers
220 says bag is full
Well - is it? If so - empty it. Some bags look like they have more room in them, but the "bag full" message lights as a safe guard that it doesn't get filled too much.
Fellowes Powershredder, making clunking noise and ceases to shred
2 probably causes to check this 1st unplug the machinenow take the top off ,there are 2 screws underneath the front edge of the cover assessable when the door is open, and 2 on the back you will want to back the shreddr up to a table when you take off the top (the sensors and switches are all still connected so this takes the stress off of the wires) now you will need to remove the blade guards there are screws at the left and right ends of the guards, once these are removed you should have a pretty good view of the blades, look for any visible obstruction (part of a binder clip or paper clip or metal closure from an envelope for example) if this wasn't the cause try this on the side of the blades there is a fan wheel that is connected to the motor. When you turn the fan with your hand you can manually turn the blades, typically you will be able to turn it to a given point and then it will be increasingly hard to turn, you might also notice that the bar on the outer edge of the blades begins to bend at this point. These bars seem to break under fairly low stress and having one break will also produce the symptoms you described. replacing one of those is a costly repair, (cost is largely because it is very time consuming,)
The shredder will not automatically
depending on what you have available, either a damp paper towel or alcohol wipe, or compressed air will work to clean the sensor eye located top at the center of the paper feed opening, you should see a little dot wipe, or spray these out well, then turn the machine off and back on again. built up dust from the paper causes the sensor to keep registering that there is paper coming in hence it won't stop on its own.
I put too much paper
1) unplug shreddernow there are two screws on the back and two underneath the edge on the front (you need to open the door to access them) remove all four screws and lift cover off towards the back( it helps to back the machine up to a table to support the top so its not hanging by the wiring) if you still cannot access the jammed item, remove the metal guards there are screws on the side as well as on the top (i think 4 total) just don't take out the screw with the spring on it that's something else you don't want to play with right now. I will mention that when you take off the guards you will likely discover that there is a lot of shredded paper still jammed up in the blades, a shop vac works pretty well hear, but so will a brush (might as well clean that out as long as you have the cover off.) avoid using direct force when trying to remove jams, you can break things that way, you may want to try and cut the jammed material free and removing the last bits with a pair of needle nose plyers.
I need a parts list for a Fellowes Model C-220
are you certain that the part needs to be replaced. I have seen several of these that could be fixed by bending them (if you hadn't tried it give it a shot) I'll take a look and see if I can find a parts list at work on Mon
Fellowes Powershred 220 gives a perfect cut on
Welcome to fixya
