well, the correction ribbon is for erasing mistakes, it literally, pulls the ink off the paper, but you have to hit the correction button, the type writer will back up and pull the ink, but you would hear ait and be able to tell the diff. I think maybe you should check 1st that the ink ribbon is the 1 closest to you, and the correction ribbon is behind the ink ribbon- also make sure they are in the correct direction- ink side of the ribbon facing your paper- sticky side of the correction ribbon facing the paper- so its you, the ink ribbon and then the correction ribbon then the paper

Try replacing the ribbon cartridge.

First try opening and closing the top cover. If that does not reset the print wheel to the correct characters, check and make sure the correction tape is not interfering with the wheel as it spins. If that is not the case remove the print wheel and make sure non of the spokes are bent. If they are you can try bending them back to the right position or you may have to replace it.

If you are talking about one number it may be the keyboard or the printwheel.If the shifted letter prints it's the printwheel.DickyO

If that is the only character that is not working then the most likely cause is the daisy wheel (print wheel). Remove it from the machine and look closely at it. The spokes should be evenly spaced and no gaps. If the daisy wheel is damaged, just replace it.

I start typing and the hammer will not move forward to hit the daisy wheel

you have to get a new printwheel, pull the black lever in front and to the right of the printwheel, pull ou the old P/W, insert the new P/W in the same position and push the lever forward untill it latches into place

Chances are that the print head is not locked forward. This happens when the daisy wheel or either of the ribbons are replaced. Just push it forward until it clicks

Check the print head/wheel to be sure it is securely in place.

If your are not in a language or KBII mode the print wheel homing pawl is probably broken. You need a tech.DickyO

I believe you are in the wrong department typewriters don't have a wind idler assembly.
