O2 sensors are located in the exhaust system, before and after the catalytic converter, (Cat).
Sensor 1, (Upstream sensor), is before the catalytic converter, often positioned in the exhaust manifold or in the down pipe attached to the manifold.
Sensor 2, (Downstream sensor), is positioned under the vehicle after the catalytic converter. They usually stick out at 90 degrees to the exhaust and can be a real pain in the tailbone to get out.
The 02 sensors are in the exhaust. I'm not sure of engine liter size? The info I looked at, shows two 02 sensors, one before the cat and one after. If you got a trouble code for the 02 sensor, the code should tell you sensor 1 or sensor 2.
If your talking the 02 sensor, it's in the exhaust. Bank one is the bank with the number 1 cylinder and sensor 1 is the first 02 sensor.
The number 1 cylinder shows to be located in the rear bank. If you only have two 02 sensors, that would be one before the cat and one after.
On the I6 engine, the precat sensor is located on the passenger side of the engine right below the exhaust manifold. Easty to get to, unplug the sensor and use an 02 sensor socket to remove. Post cat sensor is underneath after the cat. The connector to unplug is located in a difficult position, near the top of the transmission. I find that moving yourself toward the rear of the car and reach in the easiest. As opposed to reaching in right above the 02 sensor.
Hello there are two 02 sensors on this vehicle, 02 sensor 1 {pre 02} is located in the rear exhaust manifold. the second 02 sensor {post} is located in exhaust pipe just behind the cat. converter
There are a total of 4 02 sensors on your vehicle. Each side of the engine has 2 02 sensors. 1 sensor is located before the catalytic converter, and 1 sensor after the converter for each exhaust. You will have to remove the lower plastic covers under the car to access where the sensors are located. They are located in the exhaust forward of the transmission. You will need either a 22mm or 24mm open end wrench, or preferably an oxygen sensor removal tool which can be purchased from an automotive store or even Sears. In addition you may need a 3/8 ratchet. The sensors can be pricey and I recommend staying with Bosch brand if possible. It is best to remove the sensors when the exhaust is cold.
The o2 sensors are located along the exhaust. So if you start at your exhaust manifold and work your way back to the muffler, you will find the sensors. They are the only thing that goes into the exhaust with wires coming out it them.
