My honda was doing the same thing. 92 hondas are known for burning oil quickly. i got the valve cover and the O-rings replaced, also the whole engine was basically sealed up so now it is not leaking or burning up oil. as far as picking up speed, make sure all ur spark plugs are in correctly and are not wet from the oil.

I have a 92 Honda accord and i just changed the copper spark plugs, the plugs were soaked in oil. what the problem is?

Firstly, make sure the new spark plug that you bought is of the same heat range of the previuos plug or as stated in the car manual. there are 2 possibilities........1. oil drip thru intake or exhaust valve 'O" ring. 2. Piston ring already worn-out,

Oil inside cylinders

oil inside the cylinders happens two ways...bad or worn piston rings or bad valve seals.  If you do a compression test this will tell you what the problem is.  when you remove your oil filler cap with the motor running is there a lot of pressure coming from inside the engine?  If there is, as I'm suspecting you are sadly suffering from a worn out engine.

92 Honda Accord, 5 speed, hard shifting into first & second gear.

First thing to do,try to pump your clutch before you shift into 1st gear then if you feel makes better, most probably you have problem with your hydraulic clutch system, check the clutch line if there is an evidence of fluid leaking or it could be internal leak.

Second thing to do, check your transmission oil, may be it' s too old or you use a thick oil thats why when cold its hard to shift then when the engine rich the normal temperature(warm) the oil become thin and the shifting will smooth. Remember the very old oil become thicken and the purity is gone and can cause of hard shifting. in this regards i suggest you to change the transmission oil and check the used oil if there is small peace of metals, then you are in big trouble,
