Bring it to a service center, and consider trading the car in. The Hyundai is not known for durability. Their usability range is around four years. Buy a better car and save money. My Hyundai lasted four years but many suspension, steering, electrical, and braking issues. I now drive an Infinity for the past 7 years, and 160,000 miles. Not a single repair bill, just scheduled maintenance.

SOURCE: Shifter stuck in PARK. Is there a switch or solenoid by the shifter? How do I remove the cdentral console

There should be a small rubber plug near the shifter that you can see near the shifter, take that out and insert a key or screwdriver in it and gently press down. This unlocks the shifter. In the mean time the same circuit is wired to the brake pedal and has a switch and if it comes loose or fails then it wont shift out of park so check the brake pedal switch.

2007 Impala stuck in park and gear override silver button won't work. Can't figure out the problem please help

If your 2007 Impala is stuck in park and the gear override silver button doesn't work, there may be a few potential problems that are causing the problem. Here are some common causes and troubleshooting solutions you can try: Brake light switch: The most common cause of this problem is a faulty brake light switch. The brake light switch is responsible for sending a signal to the shift interlock solenoid to release the shifter when the brake pedal is depressed and can prevent the shifter from releasing if the switch does not operate properly. Make sure your brake lights work by pressing on the brake pedal. If they don't work, it's probably a brake light switch issue that needs to be replaced. Shift Interlock Solenoid: The shift interlock solenoid is a mechanism that prevents the shifter from moving without pressing the brake pedal If the solenoid is faulty or a blown fuse can cause the shifter to go into park. Check the fuse connected to the shift interlock system and replace if necessary. If the fuse is good, the solenoid may need to be replaced. Shift Cable: The shift cable connects the shifter to the transmission and allows you to change gears. Damaged, loose, or misaligned cables can prevent the shifter from leaving the parking space. Inspect the shift cable for any obvious issues and make sure it is securely attached to the shifter and transmission. Shift lock control module: Some vehicles have a shift lock control module that ensures proper operation of the shift interlock system. Malfunction of this module can cause the problem. It may be necessary to use a diagnostic scan tool to check for any error codes associated with the module. Ignition switch: Faulty ignition under certain conditions

2012 Nissan Sentra stuck in park

Sounds like the brake pedal interlock switch needs adjusting or replacing. The brake pedal has to be depressed to release solenoid for shifter lock in the console. To override the shifter lock, you will have to remove the solenoid in the console. Check the solenoid before removing it.

Where can i find a shift lock solenoid for my 2002 monte carlo ss? i have searched for days on internet and cant find anything.

just because you disconnected the shift cable from the trans doesnt mean the car is now out of gear. The interlock switch is located next to the shifter in the center console. Remove the bezel around the shifter and you should see a small tab that reads (shift interlock) pull it out of its holder and the shifter should once again move

1998 toyota camry shift override button continued use after switch light replacement

Just remove the mechanism (solenoid) that locks the shifter in the console. Its not cost effective to repair.

Shifter is stuck in park. had to remove little cover over hole, by the shifter, to insert key into hole, to get shifter to remove shifter from park. what causes this and is it something i can fix on my...

I believe this vehicle is equipped with a shift lock that necessitates depressing the brake pedal before it can be shifted out of "Park". This is a safety feature designed into almost every car made nowadays to prevent unintended movement of the vehicle when shifting out of "Park". The Shift Lock solenoid is triggered by the brake light switch located near the top of the brake pedal arm. Starting with the "basics", check to see if the brake lights are working (they should illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed. If the brakes lights do not come on. then proceed to check the brake/stop light fuse. Replace if needed. Once the brake lights are functioning, the shift lock should "disengage" and allow you to shift out of "Park" when the brake pedal is pressed. If the fuses are okay, but still no brake lights, then the Brake Light Switch may need to be replaced.

Brake lights working but won't shift out of "Park"? Check for a separate fuse for the Shift Lock Solenoid. Replace if needed. Otherwise the Shift Lock Solenoid may need to be replaced. This will require disassembly of the console to access the part.

We have a 2006 Chrysler 300 V6 and today when I tried to shift from park to drive it would not move it was stuck. What to do?

I also have an 06 300 3.5 that did the same thing. I was informed that they would have to replace the shifter.($350+) before I let them do that to me I removed the center portion of the console so I could manually unlock the shifter. But have also been told that there is another switch attached to the brake pedal. The brake lock solenoid. Seems there have been multiple problems with this switch.

Stuck in park wont let it shift by stepping on the brake

i would look at the shift lock solenoid-it is located at the bottom of the shifter inside the center console-once you remove the console push on the brake to see if it is engaging-if not replace it

I have a 2001 chevy s-10 that will not shift out of park . I can move the shifter freely, but it will not shift. this is a column shifter.

There is a safety feature on these trucks that makes you depress the brake pedal so you can put the truck in gear, but if you look under the shifter if it is in the floor (console) you will see a solenoid under the shifter. You can over-ride the solenoid by pressing in on the white or cream color clip on the right side of the shifter.this will pull the set pin out towards the passenger side and allow you to put the truck into gear. This is called a shifter lock solenoid. You have to replace the whole shifter assembly if its not shifting out of park. It had to do with the safety feature of the brakes being applied before the car will shift into park. check out the brake switch wire.if its having a cut in between or a loose connection in between this problem can occur. There is a solenoid that locks the shifter in park until you press the brake.Try checking that solenoid and its associated circuitry. also check the brake light switch, you might have a bad brake light switch. the brake light switch releases the shifter lock mechanism.
It's called the shift interlock feature. It's triggered by the brake switch so make sure the brake lights are coming on when this happens. If you have no brake lights, then you will have to test for power in and out of the brake light switch If the brake lights are working, then you'll have to get to the solenoid in the console or column. Disassemble as much as you have to to access the solenoid near the shifting mechanism. Us a 12v test light to test for power arriving at the solenoid when the brake is applied. If power is arriving and the solenoid is not triggering, the solenoid is bad.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya
