The ecm is probably your problem. You can't completely rule out other problems, however.

This probably isn't the problem, but make sure that you have the correct fuse installed.

I would probably try a slightly higher amp fuse before replacing the ECM.

If you need to find a used one reasonable, try car-part.com.

For the ECM 1 fuse to open you obviously have a short to ground , start with the injector disconnected and see if ECM 1 fuse still blows.If it does disconnect crank sensor, also inspect wires for the injectors or any rub through wires here is a diagram cansmo_178.gif

Hi, I recommend you try disconnecting the speed sensor on the transmission output shaft and drive the car to see if the the fuse blows. If it doesn't, replace the sensor and reconnect. If the fuse blows, there may be a problem with the instrument cluster.

Sounds like the computer has short in it. You can get a computer at Oreillys auto parts for around $140.00. You will need to call the part store and order the ecm and give them some info on your engine, so the replacement ecm can be programmed for your vehicle.

Underhood fuse block swap out relay #7 thats the ECM relay.
Ground Circuits Using a DVOM, touch negative voltmeter lead to a good ground. Touch positive voltmeter lead to each ground terminal. With vehicle running, voltmeter should indicate less than one volt. If reading is greater than one volt, check for open, corrosion and loose connection on ground lead. See ECM GROUND LOCATION table for ECM ground location.

Keep blowing ECM fuse on 90 honda accord

I'm thinking the ECM is bad and grounding out, causing the car to blow the fuse. The old gas wouldn't cause this problem.

Blows fuses

Generally speaking, a fuse 'blows' because too much current is drawn through that circuit. In this case I suspect a 'short-to-ground' or a bad voltage regulator (inside the alternator in a GMC). First, I would check the alternator's output voltage. Easiest just to look at your guage. Up to 14 1/2 volts is normal on a GM (with truck running), if it's higher - you need a new alternator. If it's under 14 1/2 volts, you
MUST find the short. Unless you have the specialized tools, (short-circuit finder, voltmeter, wiring
diagrams, etc.) this should be left to a competent automotive electrical shop. It could be as simple as a wire's insulation worn off or a short 'inside' the ECM (you truck's engine control computer). No matter what, one trip to a competent mechanic will probably be cheaper than continually replacing the computer and/or towing bills. Good luck!

Blowing ECM-B fuses

The first thing you should do is to locate the oil pressure switch/sending unit.

This switch serves two functions.

1) provide oil pressure reading

2) disable the fuel pump relay in event of oil pressure loss.

===

When this switch is failing to provide the correct pressure to the ECU. The wiring harness can overheat and eventually create a short.

ECM B blow is because the harness is grounding/shorting.

===

DO NOT drive the truck until you change the oil pressure switch.

After you change the switch,you should spend sometime to inspect the wiring between the fuel pump relay,ECU and fuel pump.

Please post up day on the comment window/page.

I will follow up on it later.

Good luck.
