My 2001 Ford Crown Victoria A/C clutch pulley is not turning properly and is causing the serpentine belt to break. How can I by-pass or neutralize the A/C pulley so engine can run without A/C until I can afford to get A/C fixed?

Just go buy a belt listed for your vehicle without a/c. If there isn't one listed, the guys at the parts store should be able to help you find one through trial and error.

A/C is standard in Crown Vic, and I cannot properly engage the rest of the pulleys when bypassing the A/C pulley.

Turn each pulley by hand and check for binding or roughness. Also check to make sure none have any wobble or side play.(if they do, they may be bad...not just the pulley, but whatever it's on...alternator, power steering pump etc) After the belt is back on, sight down the belt from the side and check to make sure everything is lined up properly. Watch it run for awhile and make sure nothing is shocking the belt such as an intermittently binding power steering pump or a/c compressor. Shouldn't be too hard to find out what's wrong.
Good luck...any questions about what you find just ask!

Also check to see if there is power in the start wire form the ignition switch, the wire is a white wire with pink stripe, most likely not a common problem, but still something that could go wrong. this wire will feed the starter relay under the hood...

My 1998 crown victoria steering is making a skweeky sounds when i make turns

This indicates an issue with the power steering system. First, locate the power steering fluid resevoir under the hood. Then open it and check the fluid level. If that is low, check your vehicle manual for the correct type of fluid to add. Also, take a look at the belt that goes around the power steering pump pulley-If the belt is loose, or otherwise in bad shape, It will make a squealing sound as it slips on the pulley. If the vehicle has a serpentine belt, or one belt that winds around all the accessory pullies and is loose, the serpentine belt tensioner may be failing. If none of these things are present, the problem most likely lies in the power steering pump itself, and it will need replacement. Good Luck!

Ford crown victoria a/c problem

A lack of gas in the system, the Pulley / Clutch is stuffed, the compressor has packed it in. Maybe more details on the problem will help us pin-point the problem

Belt tensioner release

There is a square hole in the tensioner pulley arm. Use a 1/2" breaker bar inserted into the hole to rotate the tensioner to relieve the tension on the serpentine belt.

It is possible that your tensioner pulley is seized and will have to be replaced as well. This happened to my 2001 F-150, the tensioner pulley seized and shredded the serpentine belt.

I need to replace the serpentine belt on a 1988 ford crown victoria and need the routing for the belt.

These diagrams are somewhere under your hook, but in any event MAP yours paying particular attention to v grooves up or down (Front of belt or back) and just map it count the pulleys and draw them on paper, then draw the snake through them...

You wil be amazed how long the belt is.

Sounds like someone rigged this when replacing the belt previously. The 'old school' way would be to unbolt the compressor to slide on the belt.
