1998 Toyota corolla won't crank. The lights, radio, and other accessories come on. but there is no clicking or anything when I try to crank the car. No other indication that it's the battery. I had been having some issues with the alarm, but I just put new batteries in the key fob, and can now turn the alarm on and off, so I don't think the alarm system is the problem.

SOURCE: battery on toyota corolla 2003

make sure battery cables are secure on or into the battery and not loose. If cables are loose it will cause your alternater to fail therfore not fully keeping battery charged. If battery cables are not loose replace battery.

Yes the key needs to be reprogramed to the car. Unfortunately that will have to be done by the dealer. Make sure that you have plenty of proof that you are the owner. They will reprogram it but you will not take posession of the car until you prove it is yours.

My 1998 Toyota corolla won't crank at all (not even a clicking). The lights, radio, and other accessories come on--no inidication that it's the battery. I had been having issues with the alarm going off...

Hi I hope this helps I had the exact same problem with my 1998 toyota. I think its the ignition switch, or the ignition itself. That's what ended up being the problem with mine.
