I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada, I have engine codes PO405, and PO 122 showing up. I replaced the throttle positioning sensor 3 times and the EGR valve once. My car has hat shifting and high idle along. It also runs rough when gas is given, it tries to shut off.
Code 122 is for a low signal coming from the TPS. Since you have replaced the sensor, the problem may be in the wiring harness. The signal would need to be checked.
Code 405 is also a low signal coming from the EGR valve. Same thing, you need to check the signal with a scanner or volt meter.
And when the computer is not getting an acceptable reading from the TPS it uses a known good signal to bypass the sensor which will cause the idle speed and shifting problems. The computer does not know when you open the throttle.

If it sat for 3 years the fuel may be in pretty tough shape. If he gasoline smells like a can of old varnish or turpentine then it may have gummed up either the fuel pump, injectors or both. I would start by testing the fuel pressure with a gauge first to see if it is actually pumping enough fuel to run the engine. If the fuel smells bad or your pump isn't working you may need to have the fuel tank removed and cleaned and the fuel lines flushed to get all the old gunky fuel out of them. Also check to be sure you actually have spark at the plugs so you'll know if the ignition system is still working.
Testimonial: "was pulling the tank when i got the email all i been doing i completely over looked checking for spark at each plug because it starts it has three seperate coils so should have pulled the injectors earlier to poor to have them tested but the screens in the top look pretty fouled tho i truely have never messed with injectors before the fuel smelled good and had not but a few water beads but is a bit thin looking fuel tank pumps and has good pressure at the fuel rail but again no way to actually check pressure thank you for your help"

Check the Mass Air Flow Sensor, you can get a can of cleaner specific for cleaning them for a couple bucks at the parts store. I'd just get 1 and clean the sensor see if that works. The MAF sensor is either in the throttle body itself (bolted on from the outside or in the air line between the filter and throttle body. That could be the whole problem right there. Good luck.
