Over head outside temperature gauge and compass has quit.

1999 f250 sd with overhead console. digital readout not working.

Resistors on the circuit board are loose or have even fallen off. Re-solder them and it will work like new.

My compass and temp. gauge had quit working in my 2004 f250, i think it is a bad resistor but i can't seem to get the consoul off and i dont want to tear it up. any hints on how to. i dont see any...

Check for screws in the sunglass holder and also right behind the computer display. Many of the ford overhead consoles are not held by screws, just locking tabs. If you do not see any screws then give the console a gentle tug from the front corner. I have some pictures on how to do so (as well as a repair solution) at my website www.autoclockrepair.com

This is a very common problem with many of the mid 2000 Ford truck and SUV overhead consoles. The console is very prone to internal failure. Over head temp gauge/compass will not light. How do I remove the console on a 1999 ford f250 sd?

It is really easy to do. If you have a sunglasses holder (or a compartment overhead) open it and remove the 2 screws in the compartment. That should be it, from there just gently pull the assembly away from the roof, there are 2-4 clips holding the assembly in place. From there remove the main wiring harness and you are good to go. I have a 1999 ford explorer with tthe overhead council that has two map lights and the outside digital temperature indicator. the lights still work, but the temperature won't display. I dropped it down and...

It could be the temp sender unit located in the engine compartment. Is this the only part of the console that is bad (ie the compass still functions)? Have you tried unplugging the battery to reset everything?
