1996 Jeep grand cherokee limited

Yes I'm having an alarm problem and don't have the keypad that came with the jeep and I cant get the alarm off and the jeep won't start up. I have tried everything even unlocking the passenger door and unhooking the negative battery cable and unscrewing the chassis wire that still didn't work for I still can't get my alarm off and the car moving and my kids are missing school.

I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, YOU HAVE TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF, GET OUT OF THE CAR, LOCK YOUR DOOR WITH THE KEY AND THEN UNLOCK IT. THAT IS ONE WAY , IF THAT DOESNT WORK PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AT THE SAME TIME TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND PRESS AND HOLD KILL SWITCH UNDER STEERING COLUMN, BEHIND FUSE BOX

Cant get 1996 jeep grand cherokee to start after alarm stopped

The alarm might have a relay to kill the ignition. Disconnect the negative or ground from the battery, wait five minutes then connect it again. This is to try and restart the alarm. Then lock and unlock the car to get the remote in sync. Try and operate your vehicle now and let me know.

Alarm goes off for no reason. 97 Jeep grand Cherokee.

There is a security system built-in to the Jeep Grand Cherokee during these years. The reason the alarm goes off is because of a change in the electrical system (like shutting a door) that triggers the alarm. To stop the alarm, either disarm with the remote or unlock the door from the outside with the key. This will shutoff the alarm.
