Jeep 4.7 V8 Knock under hood

It would be unlikely the number 8 rod bearing would be flapping around without causing some damage to the finish of the crankshaft journal. The big question is why was it flapping around in the first place? Often a shortage of oil being supplied to that bearing would be the cause and the main suspect. I suggest you revisit that bearing and take a closer look and maybe use a micrometer to check that journal.

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited,V8 Quadra-trac which dies on the road; dash gauges drop; "no key" lite displays on dash. Restarts after cools. Two codes P 0443 and 0308 are showing? help

code p 0443 refers to evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve ---circuit malfunction====causes ---wiring--- EVAP canister purge valve ---ECM code p0308 refers to cylinder 8 ---misfire detected ====causes ---engine mechanical fault ---wiring----ignition/ fuel system--- injector---ECT/MAF sensor---ECM I am thinking here that it restarts , not after cooling , but after the vacuum in the fuel tank has lessened and allowed fuel to be pumped to the injectors and the fuel pressure is re-established if that is the case then a weak injector or partially blocked injector will misfire under those conditions I would fix the purge valve so that the tank vents properly and the rest may go away

My 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited sun roof does not want to open.

If your motor is audible and your fuses and connectors are okay, you may have to take a close look at the plastic gear parts up in the roof. The nylon parts do wear out since they are in the roof and more exposed to different temperatures. If any of that mechanism fails then your sunroof will stop working even if the motor is still good. It is a bit of a PITA to get to it since you will have to remove the headliner to get at the mechanism and then identify the worn part and replace it CAUTION: The sunroof system is timed from the factory so that the motor shuts off automatically when the sunroof window reaches a certain position. Extreme care must be taken when removing the motor, timing may be thrown off causing possible damage to the sunroof system. Anytime the motor is removed from the sunroof assembly the sunroof glass panel must be in the FULLY CLOSED POSITION or the unit will be out of timing. The drive motor cannot be reset to the park position after being removed. CAUTION: The sunroof motor should only be powered through the vehicle battery and sunroof wire harness. Applying power to the sunroof motor leads will cause failure of the control module. Move glass panel to the fully closed position. Move glass panel to the fully closed position. Remove the A-pillar trim. (Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/A-PILLAR TRIM - REMOVAL) Remove the B-pillar upper trim. (Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/B-PILLAR UPPER TRIM - REMOVAL) Remove the C-pillar trim. (Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/C-PILLAR TRIM - REMOVAL) Remove the D-pillar trim. (Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/D-PILLAR TRIM - REMOVAL) Remove the sunvisors. (Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/SUN VISOR - REMOVAL) Remove the overhead console. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/OVERHEAD CONSOLE - REMOVAL) Disconnect the control switch wire connector. Remove headliner as necessary to gain access to sunroof drive motor. Refer to Headliner Removal and Installation for proper procedures. Disconnect the drive motor wire harness connectors (Sunroof Drive Motor and Express Module). Remove drive motor fasteners and remove motor from the sunroof housing

Jeep grand cherokee limited transfer case fluid type

what is the question.? snarky answer "we give you permission" hehe but my guess, is what fluid is it? that it/, i presume you see the 2 plugs. there. fill and drain>? always remove fill plug first. (if cant stop, do not drain it) 242 and 247 have different fluid capacity. 3pints and 2.5 pints respectively the operators guide tells gear lube used there. chapter on 242, example. Dextron II is not correct in 2016, only DEXron VI. (newest grades are always best ) do not mix them, drain and fill with only one class of lube. 100% 26216550-vrrai0pdigppie355bpmpsd4-1-1.jpg

Why am I getting heat out of one duct with ac on. and sometimes after it runs a while you can hear the blower but little air from the ducts.

wow1, no statement of you have manual HVAC or the AZC options automatic zone controls. (apples and org, diffr) or is your car the MTC HVAC (manual temp controls)????? what is your question>? are you saying, it worked ok before core change or fails before and after core change,?? my guess, after.... did you run the self test ? (guessing AZC) for sure the damper are failing only 2 ways do do that controls bad or the actuator bad. (or the wire between) maybe even fuses? the WJ, the book is free. read chapter 24 HVAC yet? the AZC has 4 electric damper motors. (actuators) chapter 24 and 8w cover hvac. i FSM ill now post AZC self test, (posted here 10 times now) quote: ENTERING THE AZC SELF-DIAGNOSTIC MODE To enter the AZC self-diagnostic mode, perform the following: (1) Depress the A/C and Recirc buttons at the same time and hold. Rotate the left temperature control knob clockwise (CW) one detent. (2) If you continue to hold the A/C and Recirc buttons depressed, the AZC control module will perform a Segment Test of the vacuum fluorescent (VF) display. In the Segment Test you should see all of the display segments illuminate as long as both buttons are held. If a display segment fails to illuminate, the vacuum fluorescent display is faulty and the heater- A/C control must be replaced. (3) After viewing the Segment Test, release the A/C and Recirc buttons and the display will clear momentarily. If a 0 is displayed, then no faults are set in the system. Should there be any faults, either "current9 or "historical", all fault codes will be displayed in ascending numerical sequence (note no effort is made to display fault codes in chronological order). Each fault code is displayed for one second before the next code is displayed. Once all fault codes have been displayed, the system will then repeat the fault code numbers. This will continue until the left side set temperature control is moved at least one detent position in the CW direction or the ignition is turned "OFF". end quote if no AZC , nows the time to say..... right? http://www.morris4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service

Poor acceleration

Sounds like you either have a restricted exhaust or low fuel pressure. You can take the upstream o2 sensor out and see if your power increases.

Fuse diagram for 1999 jeep grand cherokee limited

franky, im amazed at any CD still working this old and full of dirt. amazing......... RTM, (the operators guide even covers fuses, lost that :?) see link below for the FREE BOOK. posted 100;' of times how to do this, how to see real books. 99' Jeep first WJ year. i click wiring audio i click, your audio system (there are many options) CD premium. fuse 30 (JB) runs the head. if the radio works? then fuse 30 is not blown. so end path.. the CD is page 47-6 and the CD gets power from head end radio. so it has power.! and the Eject function is dead. my guess(wild) is it's jammed and has a CD label or remains of a broke CD inside or is at END of life, as all do this old. for sure costing more to fix then to UPGRADE http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service FYI----IMO:::: i'd buy a new media center and now have USB flash sticks full of music, CDs are mostly dead now. an IDEA that is ending now. you can rip all your CD's to a mp3 file for free and is legal. (not movies) just audio. and they all fit on one USB stick size of Chicklet candy. or remove CD unit bench test it (add power to it) remove cover, clean it? check why its jamming, lots of labor here, and if not you, huge costs. walmart has a radio with USB ports for $99 ,and a $15 adapter for jeeps.

I have a 1999 grand cherokee limited awd but the front axles only spin when it's in 4 low any suggestions on what the problem could be?

This is a vehicle I know little about other than you desperately need a real mechanic to look at it due to the 4x4 type. I know the mechanic that does all the work for the "big" high-dollar dealer in our area on Jeeps. There is a setting that is you're off so much as a degree or two, it tears up the tranny or gearbox (again, I am not the one in the know - only what I repeatedly heard from two people and do see the vehicles there for him to fix). Would suggest this be one thing you not tinker with yourself. Someone on here might know all there is to know about these and say something different... just know messing one up over not fixing and lining them up correctly with the "gauge" and equipt this one guy has is costly, 100% of the time.

Front wheels shake going down the road

If you have not hit anything 95 percent of the time it is a tire issue. Can even be a tire issue if you hit something. Broke a belt in the tire. One of the weights came off the rim. I had a garage swear it was a tire rod end once and it did not fix it. Turned out they did not even check the tires. Turned out to be a busted belt and a missing weight. Could have saved myself 800 bucks in labor
