The key seems blocked from turning all the way which means the car sill not start.
Try to wiggle the key up and down while trying to turn it.If it still will not turn then you will need to replace the ignition switch.

I have the same problem. I put some graphite down the key hole and pushed it around in there and it loosened it up a bit to the point I could turn the ignition. If you have a replacement key, start using that. It should help as well.Teeth on old key may be wearing down. Lastly, I keep a screwdriver in the car to whack against key when it's in the ignition if it's stuck. A few taps on the key will always unlock the ignition.
Or, go but a new ignition and key set....

The actual ignition switch, the electrical switch which the key cylinder turns, is probably bad. It is made of plastic and does eventually wear out. Have that part checked out.

Depending on the model car it sounds like the cylinder lock is bad, something broke apart inside the lock but i have seen the ignition switch also break apart, you will need to remove the cylinder and see if its the cylinder or the switch itself, good day.

After going out and trying my spare key the ignition turned, I appreciate your answering my question. If the problem returns i will consider changing out the cylinder. Thank you.
I jyst today, 8-19-20, experienced an ignition issue. From what I've read & lots of experience with cars & mechanics over my years...ive learned, it seems there's probably a couple things going wrong at once, i.e. cylinder, ignition yada yada, I'd rather fix the WHOLE KIT-N-KABOODLE. like i did when my rear light indicators came on & bought the bulbs bc it came w/2, ya know darn well the other bulb will burn out too..so i replaced both at the same time. As far as my new issue w/my ignition not turning all the way to start, it may just be the cylinder but here i go again, i know the other part(s) of ignition will "wear out" so just gonna get the whole thing replaced. Hopefully that made any bit of sense to anyone bc it came out sincerely of a bipolar mind
