I have put a transmission into a Ford 1989 Crown Victoria and need to know how to adjust the linkage
There a tab at the linkage you unlock it and slid the cable till it is just a little loose the snap the tab back in, drive the car and make a note when the car shifts into overdrive, it should do it at about 55 miles per hour at half throttle, if it shifts to fast tighten the cable if it stays out of overdrive loosen it

it should be in your owner manual. if not, I can look up something for you but can't post illustrations to this site.

If it was an old police vehicle it has probably got an ignition kill switch located somewhere. This will have to be removed. And the wiring put back to factory standards. If not an old police car you are not getting voltage to the starter which is a bad relay. Do you get a clicking sound when you try to start? If yes, have someone keep hitting the start and listen and look for a relay under the hood.
