I have an 83 el

This starter is gonna have a main cable and possibly up to three fusible link wires that will go on the large stup on the back of the solenoid. The small swithch wire will go on the stud to the left of the large one. If the starter has a small stud on each side of the solenoid the switch wire normally goes on the side that bolts closest to the engine block. There may also be a ground wire from the back of the starter motor to the block on this model. It's easier to tighten the nuts for these wires before bolting up the starter.

Turbo 400 transmision only goes in gear for i

First thing to do is check your fluid level, which must be done with the engine running. If the level is low, fill to correct level and try again. If fluid level is ok, I suggest changing the trans filter. If that doesn't help, I suggest changing the transmission, or getting it rebuilt.

There may not be enough power going to window switches.Remove and test with volt meter. You might have to remove door panels and lubricate all the working (moving) parts. After several years the factory lube breaks down.I hope this will help you.

I need the correct emission

I wouldn't normally do this but in this case, there are so many different set-ups around those year, that you will have to pick through them to find yours. try going to (www.autozone.com ) and fill out the membership (free) and it will give you access to info you need.

I have a 1979 El

There should be a vacuum diagram under the hood but if it's gone the EGR hooks to the purple topped vacum port. I think that's the one on the thermostat housing, if I remember right. The other vacuum port should have a red and white restrictor valve in one of the lines and that is the wrong one. The other line from it goes to the bottom left on the carburator. If you don't have any of that stuff, and that's possible, then it needs to have manifold vacuum so hook it direct to the carb or the manifold on an available nipple. Hope this helps.

What is the towing capacity

Well the transmission is good for a rating of 6,000.lbs if it is the 700R4 they are in 8,600.lb trucks. The motor and the frame is another story. Something that heavy you would want electric brakes on the trailer if that is what you are thinking of hauling.
