In order to change your fuel pump you have to remove as much gas as possible before removing your fuel tank, then unbolt the fuel pump cover then disconnect the fuel lines and replace the pump. With the proper tools its a DIY job.

If you are saying the fan does not blow air thru the vents, could be a broken fan cage or a blend door problem.

Small heater core leaks will sometimes make steam, but no evidence of liquid. If you see any "green fuzz" on the core,it's probably the culprit.(if this is the original core, consider that a good lifetime for it to last-an 84 model is a 28 year old car(yikes-makes me feel old)

The position and function of the fuses is normally marked on the inside of the fuse box cover and also in the owner's handbook. If you are looking for a particular blown fuse, work your way through the fuses looking for a blown one. It is not difficult.

I've never seen a fuse block that was bad enough to need replacement. generally speaking, one or a few connections may be bad or it may need to be taken apart and cleaned. At worst, you may need to re-route a few of the fuses. That can be done by splicing into the appropriate wires and running them to a smaller fuse block (you can usually get one at a marine supply house). The same but less neat approach is to just use an inline fuse for each and label them so you know what they serve. Most important is to use the proper gauge wire and the correct amp fuse (style does not matter..only amp rating)
Before buying it though, make sure you know what is working and what's not. Blaming a fuse box for a major problem with an important system could cause you major headaches later.
Look for wire splices and things that look non factory. People can mess things up worse than the car can do to itself.
As far as replacing one, you'd probably have a difficult time just finding one. then, cutting it out of the donor vehicle and re-wiring will likely not be terrible but is time consuming and you'd need to write down and diagram everything very accurately to get it back together without problems. Check before believing this but I'm pretty sure chevelle harness is the same as a 'camino.

its typical for those of us who own such a unique vehicle.. i actually own the same vehicle, same year and engine to.. i found that one thing that i had to do was cut off my catalytic converter as it was clogged and where i live its not required... have the converter checked to see if it needs to be replaced.. if its got a carburetor and a round air filter then you can increase your mileage simply by flipping the air filter top cover upside down (so you can see the filter itself) so that it sucks in air... more air in the fuel mix equates to less fuel used

Does it have a trailer connector? Also look in the bulb socket and at the contacts they should be clean and shiny if not disconnect the battery (negative side only) and you can push the terminals up through the socket and use sand paper to clean them up or if nothing else stteel wool.

Locate your aldl connector under dash near steering column. It should have 12 pin connector. Older cars had 8 pin connector. You can do either one. On 12 pin connector jump the last 2 pins, on top row, in connector with paperclip or wire. Turn on ignition till check engine light turns on. Count & write down how many times it flashes. It will flash for example 3 times stop then 1 time = 31 code. In older 8 pin connector jump the 2nd & 4th pins on top.

The best way to do it is to go to the auto parts store and buy a premade line. They come in different lengths and with the fittings on the ends. If you don't have a flaring kit, then measure the overall length from a fitting to another fitting and replace the whole thing. From the master cylinder to the rear wheel will probably cost you about $20. Hope this helps.

Check your accelerator pump. It's on the side of the carburetor, near where the fuel line enters. It costs about $10 to replace but it causes a lot of headaches.

The paint code is on the trim tag attached to the driver's side firewall. A trim tag, lists original interior trim, exterior color, build date and other fisher body info. The paint code is a two digit code on the right side second row. If you have two codes, the car was a two tone car. If you go to http://www.paintscratch.com/ you can enter the year make and model of the car and see all the avilable colors that are original for that vehicle.

The paint code for all Chevy cars and trucks are located on the service parts identification sticker. While the sticker is moved around from year to year, it still looks like the ones below. Most labels are white paper sticker, while more moderns ones are a silver label. While most paint codes in our database start out with a "WA", most cars and trucks will start out with a "BC/CC U". BC/CC stands for basecoat/clearcoat, and the U stands for upper or body color.

Two Tone Models: A two toned car will have a "U" followed by the four digit color code for the body color, and an "L" followed by a four digit color code for the lower color or the bumper color.

I believe it should be 78U. Which is maroon metallic.

Hope helps (remember rated this).

Hello Dean.
There is no fuse for the headlights as there is a circuit breaker in the headlight switch itself.
Normally a circuit breaker will still allow the lights to come on and go out when the breaker overheats.
it is possible you have a bad positive voltage supply to the switch or a bad dimmer switch.
I remember GM cars from that time period having problems with dimmer switches.
Check for power on the yellow wire that goes into the dimmer with the headlight switch on, then the tan wire on low beam and the light green on high beam.
If yellow has power but the other two do not the dimmer switch is bad.
If the yellow has no power the problem is the headlight switch or the power supply to it.
The dimmer is mounted on the left side of the steering column just above the brake pedal and is activated by a rod that comes down from the signal/dimmer lever.
Try not to let the rod slide down and out of that lever if you change the switch.
Hope this helps you find your problem.
Take care.
