We have a 55" Westinghouse

  • swilliams930 Aug 05, 2011

That's the number on the back of the tv. I've run it and I get the tv. I hope I didn't pay 15.00 just for you to ask me that question.

We just purchased a 55 inch Westinghouse tv and I've notice with a full white screen what looks to be a plaid pattern. It's very slight with squares that are approximately 4 inches.

This is tiling which should disappear when you select a better resolution on display via remote.you should be at 720p so anything below that setting will pixelate or tile.

Harmony One universal remote won't power on/off Westinghouse TV

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. In some cases, the remote control might need to clean.

I bought a Radio Shack universal remote. It does not list Element codes. I've done the suggestions but it doesn't work. What are Element's codes??

hello!
"Element" codes could be: Polaroid, MAG, LG, Vizio.
Have you tried "code search" mode on universal remote? If you won't find the luck of those "brands" I suggested, do "code search". Refer to remote's owners manual. I did the same for myself: obtained RCA convertor box, without remote, RCA codes won't work, RCA is out of TV business. By using "code search" I made it work. Then, you may want to do "code retrieval" option, to know the correct code.
good luck,
Alex.

I have a soniq 42"

Ah, the old universal remote isn't so universal anymore is it? Most "universal" remote controls were designed for the old tube type television sets. There are some seriously nice universal remotes for new flat screen TV's, but most of them are pretty pricey. The only reasonable flat screen universal remote that I've found (that actually works) is the Vizio HDTV Universal Remote. It's about $25, and believe it or not ... Wal-Mart carries it in the store.
