Have hp dvd 1040e external 20x mulitformat dvd writer
want to be able to boot. should there be any problem with this?
Hi,
you should be able to boot from this device, on 2 conditions.
1:- the device is set to boot first, in the System Bios. Setup.
2:- The disk inserted, is a Bootable CD/DVD.

When I put the installation disc in the external dvd drive as instructed i get the installer screen and it sounds like it's running but nothing else happens. When I try to close out of that screen it has no toolbar to x out or anything and esc doesn't even work. I ended up having to ctrl alt del my way out and the dvd drive is still not installed. My model is a HP 1040e 20x multiformat dvd writer (external)
