The laser's reflected signal is no longer detected. All you can do is to clean the unit with a lens disk like
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-DVD-Laser-Cleaning-Disc/dp/B00005UPDF
If this fails then the laser diode has failed and the optical unit is dead - it will have to be replaced.

Cd stuck in philips dcm 230

I had the same issue today and came up with a solution...maybe not the best, but it worked. I unplugged the unit and then holding it by the sides (which I was sitting down) struck (not too hard) the unit onto my knees. Be sure you are holding the unit with the CD opening facing the floor. You may have to do this a few times, but the CD should start to come out, after which you should be able to grab hold of the disc and pull it gently out. Once I did this, I inserted another CD and everything worked fine. Being the daring type (obviously), I tried the original CD again, and like the first time it got stuck again and I had to repeat the same process. I came to the conclusion that for whatever reason, the CD was bad and tossed it out. Any other CD I put in the unit works just fine. Bottom line, it may be crude, but it works!

Denon DCM-280. Tray won't open, there are CDs in

If you don't wanna send it for service, open the chassis of the player and free the CDs from the tray. Its highly likely that the CDs came off the trays and got stuck inside.

DVD-Player not reading discs.

Well if it happens to every disc, then you know its the discs that are the problem. It should be the DVD player. Check if you plugged in the yellow, white, and red plugs accordingly. And also try blowing inside the DVD player, to blow away any dust that might be fogging the disc from beiing read.

Good Luck!!!! Rate Please!!!!!

Denon DCM 390 not longer reads discs--HELP!

Hi there, this lens may be dirty or it may have a thin layer of heat film that is causing it to not read in a consistent manner. i would try to clean the lens with a good CD lens cleaner. if the cleansing doesn't restore the lens to its original reading state, this will confirm lens assembly failure and you will need to replace this assembly.

Denon DCM 5000 error code

The disc is loaded upside-down in the disc rack or the disc is dirty or scratched, try another disc and make sure the top side (label side with printing) is facing towards the back of the rack, away from you. The bottom or data side should face out towards the front of the rack. If that does not work then your laser picups inside may need cleaning. Make sure your disc is clean and now scratches.

DVDs & CDs will not play

If you are playing STANDARD CD or regular DVD that you have purchase and you are having this problem, your dvd player is malfunction;however,if you are playing DVD burner disc or a different dvd region disc(we are region 1 in U.S.) that is no going to work.Same thing for your CD burner disc,it might not work.
If you are using a rental dvd disc, check and see if there is scratches? If so,try to get one without that many scratches!
