I have an rca tv that im trying to hook up to a dvd player and I can't get a signal or channel to work. I don't have a remote but the menu button works. what channel should it be on to play dvds

depend on tv input; if it's only one rca input mean is composite video; if are 3 rca input mean rgb video. so from dvd you need a scart to composite or rgb. on tv usually is AV or AUX channell. try to find a universal remote to select properly the channel. bye

How do i set my Toshiba ct-90157 remote to watch dvd's

Most DVD players are connected to one of the rear audio/video inputs--hook to that input and select it on the TV--then hit play and if connected correctly you will see the movie.

I have an older sharp tv from an older sibling and the cable works, but I'm trying to connect what I believe to be an older dvd player to it. The dvd player has the 3 color cords (red yellow and white)...

Those modes you gave are for what TYPE of signal is comming in to the Cable/Antenna connector.
You need to switch from that input device to the other input device, the RCA plugs. These are often displayed as Aux or perhaps Line etc. It would help if you had the remote from the tv and were able to choose Aux or Line, or if it has TV/Video button. But if not, try channel button on the tv itself and go down below Ch 1. If using the cable remote to control TV, it may have a TV/Video button too. Maybe.
Good luck

Hi, my RCA CRC311 BT turns on my Sharp television, changes the channels, etc, but it won't switch to video mode, even when I hit input. It is an old TV, but I used it to watch videos, dvds and play games...

Unfortunately you will not be able to switch input.
I also have a Sharp, I have tried 5 different universal remotes. None will switch input. I guess that function is not provided properly.
Good luck!

Can't access video input channel

I believe you need the original remote to switch the input to video . I found the remote shown at PartStore.com with the original RCA part number 242524 at about $37.00 and also at MCMelectronics.com at around $31.00. There may be other sources also. Good luck.

Can't switch from aux to video.

The universal remote will not work because there has to be an input button on it.
