My bottom freezer refrig. Kenmore 596.72214200 - suddenly smelled weird burning smell from back of frig., hear occasional clicking sounds. Everything seems to be working. Smell seems to happen when clicking happens. Not constant. Installed February 2004.

Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigeratordo not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many otherthings that can go wrong. If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing thencheck out the last two tips.

I have seen this one other time in all my years of appliance repair and changing out the "water inlet valve" corrected the problem. I don't have an answer to why it did, but it did. Here is the valve for your unit.
After you change the valve be sure to purge the water line for a good 5 - 10 mins to get all the nasty water out. Keep me posted!

the start device is cooked.pull out the machine and unplug it,remove the bottom panel in the rear and you'll see the compressor,on the side of it you'll see the start device,remove the clip and slide it off the compressor.read the instructions with the new device and install it.if you open the fridge door,look up on the right side wall near the ceiling you'll see the full model number,you need that to get the correct part,you can send it to me or give it to your parts store.the same thing happened to me but i was lucky i had the part in my van,good luck

Dead fish smell from my Kenmore Elite Bottom Mount Refrigerator
dead fish smell ( under the frig there is a cond pan that collects water from the defrost . whirlpool has some tabs that you can put in pan/ it helps .. I would put a cup of bleach in pan every 3 months . and if you can find the drain inside the freezer add it thorugh the drain . algae builds up in drain and plugs it . mm

Freon leaked/exploded out of freezer causing major health hazard.
sound like a compressor burn out and leaked when freon burns it creates what is called fozgeen gas (not spelled correctly) a very pungent order you should be ok the gas was used in world war 1 fyi.

Fishy smell in frig
Change the filter. Depending on your water supply and where you are located, you will get a buildup of junk that smells like fish.
It should be changed about every 6 months.

i would check to see if you hear a an blowing in the freezer sect when the door is opened, if you cant hear the fan blowing then there is yout issue, not circulating air up to refrig compartment

Orange light in the lower part of freezer
pants, don't worry about this, your refer was going into defrost. When this happens, the defrost heater turns on to melt the ice off the evaporator in the freezer comp. Last's about 20 minutes and sometimes you can see the glow and hear the ice hitting the heater...Catriver.

Hi , check at the back if can find small motor the infeller is inside /if small motor hamming infeller inside are full of ice , let the timer rotate manually hear cracking of ice smelling like burning , that the hot coil burning, if does not burning coil has problem.
