HelloStill dust do get in. I would try to use some high alcohol and clean the port properly. Clearly is a contact issue.
Best of Luck!
Well, I have isopropillic alcohol 98% here, but, I already cleaned al accesible parts...
How to clean inside the little holes?
I am afraid of using a siring inside them...
Other ideas?
Soak a little of the alcohol on one of the controller ports and then let it sit inside for a few minutes. Then try to pull it out and in. To rub the contacts. Worth a try.
If still no luck I would contact some local tech shop to see if they do service for PS2. Sure some one can help you out.
Good Luck!
Hello again, Paul
And thanks for your advises...
OK, I did today what you told me 2 days ago... I was away for the weekend... Soaked several times the oldest control, inserted, gave a soft litle shake and extract it... soaked again, and repeated the operation for some 4 times more...
Well, even after 30 mins waiting (more than enough for the alcohol to evaporate) I still took a hair dryer, and blew some cold air in for a few meinutes to be sure no liquid remained.
Connected the plug to electricity, connected the newest sony control, and inserted my GT-4 DVD... This time I noticed the control red light is blinking (sort of once every 3 to 4 secs). The game started without any MISSING CONTROLLER IN PORT 1 announcement, but the pointer started moving right on its own. Tried to send it back left, but no way hosey... It has own will...
So after trying out my other controls (all of them) I went down to the center ang got me a cheap NEO LIGHT (Paraguayan or Chinese) thingy... Wire is about 1 foot or more shorter (s*it) but the case was the test.
Beleive it or not, it worked as a new console for about 1 minute, then the light started blinking...
Reseted the PS2 and....
NO CONTROLL IN PORT 1
Please insert (blah blah blah)
Help!!!!
What now???
There´s no way to change those ports, nor cross-wire them... Any ideas?
Thanks
Jose

The PS2 slim motherboard is pretty resilient, except when it comes to Lightning. if the PS2 slim will not Boot up and show the memory card or anything, the Emotion Engine processor on the motherboard is likely toasted.
If you want to fix it, you will need to get on Ebay, and find a Broken PS2 slim theat will not read disks. Be suire you know that the broken one will boot up before bidding. I say do this, becasue it will not be worth fixing if you buy a new Motherboard. As new PS2 slim motherboards cost around $75.
You can send the PS2 to the Playstation Clinic in South Carolina if your in the USA. I will diagnose it and fix it if I can without replacing a motherboard. The cost for this is $31 including Return shipping and a 90 day warranty. No charge if I find it needs a motherboard and you do not want to replace the motherboard. I run the website www.playstationclnic.com and we can replace a motherboard, but will not repair one. Too expensive to repair. Time is money. The charge for replacing a motherboard including return shipping is about $85 for new motherboard, or $65 for a used motherboard. . This includes a 90 day warranty as well.
