Cant find where to put the code

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

Hi bradleyhagge,

Welcome to Fixya.

If you need you 8 Digit Code (Network Key) on your router you need to access the Wireless Settings Page. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.0.1, the Default username is admin and the password is blank. Go to the Wireless Settings and under Security Mode you'll find the Network Key or Passphrase. You can alsoThen Personalize you Network Key or Passphrase so that you can easily remember it.

Don't Forget to say Thanks. Thanks for using Fixya.

I cant get my passphrase # for router WGR614

Connect to your router via a LAN cable, logon to http://192.168.1.1 and use the user id and password for the router. If you don't remember the password, then you can reset the router settings by pressing the black button at the end of the router with a pin or so, so that you can use the default factory setting password written on your router.
In the "Advanced Wireless Settings" you can find the paraphrase and encryption key information, which you can modify yourself.
If you are still unable to find this information then let me know.

Cant connect laptop to router

The passphrase can be seen on the router's Admin page or its usually called router's Setup Page. You can open the router's setup page using your Internet Explorer. First you must your default gateway address. Connect your computer wired to the router or you can use a computer that is hardwired to the router to check the Default Gateway by going to Command Prompt then type IPCONFIG. If you see the Default Gateway, that's the address that you need to type on your Internet Explorer like http://192.168.1.1. If you have the router's setup page opened, you can see the passphrase on Wireless tab or Wireles Security Mode

Message when I try to connect wireless is I need

Check your router configuration under some sort of Wireless Encryption option. Essentially you or someone else set up a "passphrase" on that router which created either 64-bit or 128-bit encrypted keys from that phrase. You'll most likely find this passphrase under the Encryption information.

Wep passphrase

You will be able to get the wep key or passphrase from the wireless router or access point.

To some routers, the SSID (wireless network name) and WEP keys are found underneath the router itself. It you cannot see any, then you will need to access the setup page of the router.

This depends on what is the brand of your router.

If you let me know the brand and model I might be able to help you in checking the settings.
