Hi, I have a aten CS-1762 switcher - in position 1 is a Mac running OS X (main PC) and in 2 is a PC running Win XP. My Issue is that if i attach a keyboard & Mouse into the front keyboard USB slot it is not recognised / does not work - this has not always been the case it previously worked - and i was able to switch between PC 1/ 2 by tapping 'control' , 'control' , 'enter' . The keyboard is now plugged into the rear USB port - this works for the Mac, but is not recognised by the PC - for which i now need to have a dedicated keyboard / mouse. Cheers Robert Cressey

SOURCE: brought a CS62US and Mircosoft KB with mouse.

Unfortunately, this switch has a dedicated port for keyboard that listens for the keyboard keystroke. You MUST plug the keyboard into the dedicated keyboard port on the KVM switch for the hotkeys to work. I recommend putting the mouse that comes with your keyboard to the side, and using another mouse, plugged into the dedicated mouse USB port on the switch. Not the prettiest solution, but some of those mouse/keyboard combos have some funky hardware!

SOURCE: My Altusen Aten CS62U-2 Port USB KVM Switch seems

It very well could be just a cable causing this problem, try switching around the cables to see if you can isolate the issue. It could be the KVM is not compatible with your monitors refresh rate though, I have seen this happen a good number of times. It will work but will blink randomly to allow the monitor to re-sync with the video card.. . I have a monitor currently on a kvm that does this exact thing. You may want to try another KVM if you can't get it narrowed down to certain cables.. there is a chance the actual KVM is causing this issue, but is not defective, it is just at a different frequency then the monitor.

Thanks so much
Tim

SOURCE: I have an Aten CS62US

Reading a manual would be more useful, and if not please find out how to do configure the hot keys of a kvm switch at kvmstuff.com.

My Mecer Xpression TW7A says i must upgrade to newer windows

Hi MZIWETHU
You didn't mention whether you currently have Win XP, Win Vista, Win 7, or Win 8. Your computer may be old and might not work on the newer OS.
Windows is a Microsoft product and therefore you must pay for it.
There is no such thing as Windows for Free. There are illegal copies that require a Product Key which must be forwarded to Microsoft for Registration. Besides...Microsoft is currently in financial difficulty so be a loyal Microsoft User and Pay for the Newer OS Version. And Note... if MS catch you with an illegal OS or a bad Product Key (which gets checked over the internet) then you may get the Software Cops knocking at your door!
Or
Switch to the Mac platform where the better OS is now free. You can then install your own Windows OS via the included BootCamp program and Boot & run your PC software exactly like any other PC.
Good Luck

I have a new Logitech K520 cordless keybord/mouse combination. I use it for 2 pc's (1 Xp en 1 windows 7) by splitting it with a ATEN switch KVM CS-12. With my old Logitech combination S520 the switch...

Its all in the updated drivers, however the one OS "XP" may not have drivers available any longer. Remember XP is no longer supported and thus no one wants to write code for hardware being used with XP operating systems.
