I am not able to play games or dvds on my console. it shows that its loading but it never loads or does not give me the option to play the game what can i do
Turn off the system completely with the main power switch on the back of the console. Try that it might work
How long did you let the Blu-Ray load? Wait for five minutes or so and see what goes on. It may take time time to load the movie. Another option to do is go update your media sever to watch the movie. It might work. If nothing else works you can either call Sony technical support and they can help you with no cost, or you can return the PS3 console and I prefer get a brand new one. You can never get bad problems with a new console.

Sounds like your blueray drive is having issues, I would recomend calling sony ( their number is on the ps3 website) and tell them yout situation. They will either walk you through a fix or you will have to get it repaired, which means they will send you a box and you send the ps3 to them. If you have a warranty you are fine, if not you will pay approx $180.

This is a sign that the Blue ray lens for your PS3 is busted. Try to contact Sony if your PS3 is still under warranty. IF not, try to buy yourself a CD lens cleaner kit. This costs around $5-$10.. hopefully it fixes the problem.

I also have the same problem...I bought this PS3 60gb used on ebay. I can get on the internet wirelessly,play my music from my PC wirelessly...but when I insert a BluRay disc a swirly icon appears in the upper right corner, but the movie doesn't play. I also tried a PS2 game & the same thing happens. I tried unplugging it, resetting to default...still no go. When I emailed the previous owner they said-"Sorry your having problems wth this but there is a simple solution. The system hasn't been set up yet and as mentioned was reset to factory settings. You'll need to refer to the manual as it takes some time & detail to get this completed. Not too difficult but more time than I could explain or properly advise you (as you're monitor & Internet connection determine just how you do this). For really good advise I'd get with some of the on-line discussion groups for the fastest & best help.I've used the following in the past." I looked in the manual & don't see how to 'set up the system'...I already did the whole-language-eng; time zone- eastern.... If that's what they mean by 'set it up'. Any help will be greatly appeciated as I'd rather not have to pack it up and send it back, but don't want to spend$$ on something that doesn't work!!!
