My Toshiba P105 has a vertical white stripe on its monitor. Any help is appreciated.

Is the stripe always visible when the laptop is on? Is it opaque, or transparent? What I mean, is can you see anything through the stripe?

yes. it is always visible. it is NOT transparent. It covers anything under it.

A vertical white stripe means a portion of the lcd has failed...it will continue to get worse as time progresses. The ONLY way to fix it is to swap the lcd out with a working one. It isn't a loose connection, etc.

Please only rate my solution as either 4 thumbs or no thumbs. Trust me I have been repairing laptops for 10 years. The lcd needs to be replaced. Cheapest way to accomplish this is to take the lcd housing apart and find the part number of the lcd in the laptop, search for that part number on ebay, order, install, done. Takes about 15-20 minutes. Cost is usually 40-100 depending on your lcd.

White stripe on monitor

Hi,

I suggest try to isolate the problem of the machine. Try loading to BIOS and see if the white stripe on the monitor exist, If happens that it have the white stripe it means its already a hardware, it could be a problem with the LCD or the cable connector from the LCD to the Motherboard.

My Problem w/ my Toshiba Satellite P105-S9337 model no. PSPAGU - OOJOOV is it has a strip of white line vertical on the screen and it's about 1" thick? is their a way I can fix this problem?

Connect an external monitor to the VGA port on the computer. If that display is correct, then it's probably the LCD screen on your laptop that is damaged.

Find a computer-store. They may have "pre-owned" LCD screens the same size, for about $100.
A "brand-new" LCD screen is at least $200.

Replacing the LCD screen is *NOT* something that *YOU* can fix, unless you're a qualified technician.

Connect Digital and Analog cables at the same time.Any use?

does not help. keep dvi connector (white one) on computer and in the back of monitor.
and surely it will not take away those vertical stripes.
those vert stripes... hmm... your monitor might have a problem which you can't fix by your own.

Try to reinstall the video driver from Safe mode.
It appears your hard disk is OK but the operating system and or registry is corrupted.
1. Try installing the video driver first.
2. If it still does not work, back up your data files in Safe Mode then re-install XP again, make sure you delete the partition and create a new partition and do a full NTFS format, not a quick format.
