Grill, top oven and all lights not working after grill element blows

Hi all
Grill on our one and a halve year old unit blew a couple of days ago. Spectacular spark display came out of the open grill door when it blew. Also noticed clock/timer display and orange indicator lights for grill /top oven selector knob and temperature control light not working just after the element blew. When checking if the bottom oven was operational the oven light stopped working also.
Bought replacement grill element and bolted it on but grill, and all above still not working. Can anyone give me some advice on whats wrong and if DIY repair is feasable and if not approxomation of likely costs

Brinkmann has a terrible customer service dept. You are better off with a new unit.

Ignitor doesn't click, spark or light gas

A minor scratch will not do much harm to your image unless you use higher f-stops.Buff might help if its done by the canon themselves but mostly once an element is scratched , its gone for ever. any attempt might deteriorate the image quality even fogging your image in certain parts. using fine glass polishing powder can be used very delicately but its pretty technique sensitive and you might almost ruin the whole lens element.
If your images are fine, then don't bother or else better change the element for full from the canon.Local shops might not give you the best result.

Ignitor doesn't click, spark or light gas

When my 2-year-old grill quit supplying a spark to light either the grill or the side burner, I removed the battery/start button and noticed droplets of water inside.
So I removed the ignitor unit. When I shook it, I could hear water sloshing inside, probably because I'm too lazy to put the cover on the grill after using it.
The part was going to be about $40 with shipping.
I shook out all the water I could, but still no spark.
Remembering a tip I'd heard about wet cell phones, I sealed the ignitor unit in a bag of dry white rice and left it on the grill in the Florida sun for a couple of days. Lots of condensation showed up on the plastic bag.
Shocking discovery: after two days in the plastic bag, I shook out residual rice, replaced the battery and button, pushed it, and the sparks tingled my fingers pretty well! Lots of volts!
Also works fine in the grill again. Probably works on all brands of grill ignitors...

I have an E1060 drop in. The unit was purchased three years ago, but major delay in construction. Installed a couple months ago, all was fine. Have yet to cook on this grill. Two weeks ago, went to use,...

Dan, did you check the circuitry and relays to the motor, as was suggested on March 29th? If the motor can't get power it won't work. It seems, that this may be the problem, since you took the motor apart and there were no broken gears and all other electrical devices work. The other resolution was to contact R.H.Peterson Company, the manufacturer for more information, if all else failed.

You can buy a jet cleaner. You need to remove the jet. it screws into the jet cleaner and attach it to your cylinder. Open the cylinder and it blows out the jet backwards. Works a treat. I had one years ago and never had a problem.

Our char-broil patio bistro grill has started to blow the circuit breaker in the house when I plug it in. It will heat up a little and then the circuit blows. Is this a cord problem or an element problem?...

Could be cord or element. If you are using an extension cord, you need to use a #12 gauge cord for this grill, or it needs to be plugged into a 20 amp circuit that is located next to the grill.

If you have the right cord, then the element may be failing.

Lighting Problem/2 year-Old Ducane Grill

Do you have enough gas pressure coming out of the regulator and gas valve? You'll need a pressure guage for this.

If yes, try taking out the burners and cleaning them with a wire brush, especially the flame spreading sections.

TEC grill

I have a TEC Pattio II. I have owned the grill for almost 10 years and TEC grills have a ten year warranty on many of the parts including the burners. The burners on my grill have a ceramic inserts. The pop and loud whooshing noises indicate the ceramic insert or the seal on the burner is "cracked". I have replaced both of the inserts and burners on my grill once about 5 years ago under warranty. I have one burner now that will not stay burning and I contacted TEC today regarding the problem, and I will replace the ceramic insert only under warranty. .

The newest TEC grills like yours have the TEC Radiant Glass Infra-red Cooking System with stainless steel burners with glass surfaces. Confirm with TEC customer service that your grill has has this burner system and not the ceramic one. I assumed this burner system had eliminated the problem of the burners going out with a loud boom.

I noticed the skills of the customer service reps are lacking. You may need to talk with the manager. I love my grill and would not have any other brand or type. It is imperative to follow the cleaning instructions in you user manual.
