Grill, top oven and all lights not working after grill element blows

Hi all
Grill on our one and a halve year old unit blew a couple of days ago. Spectacular spark display came out of the open grill door when it blew. Also noticed clock/timer display and orange indicator lights for grill /top oven selector knob and temperature control light not working just after the element blew. When checking if the bottom oven was operational the oven light stopped working also.
Bought replacement grill element and bolted it on but grill, and all above still not working. Can anyone give me some advice on whats wrong and if DIY repair is feasable and if not approxomation of likely costs

Brinkmann has a terrible customer service dept. You are better off with a new unit.

Problem start when i turn Oven only on teka, then the fuses blown up. I can still use grill but whwn I turn to oven fuses go blow up again.

Hi! It seems it is not the heating element! It seems to be before that. Either a short circuit delivering to much current thus causing the blow. I would check the corresponding cable all the way to the circuit and the circuit elements corresponding to the oven element. The grill and oven elements being "independent" explains why grill still works. (A short circuit seems quite possible to me!)

The grill on my Hotpoint EW 41 Electric freestanding cooker has stopped working after my wife put aluminum foil into the grill pan which then touched the grill element causing it to 'blow' and so...

The grill element should not 'blow' by just touching it - it should be earthed. The elements do gradually disintegrate over time & the inside wire element either fractures or touches the element casing causing the mains to trip. Sometimes this makes it trip just once & then stops working. Replace the element - not usually any fuse in circuit with this. Often held in by 2 screws adjacent to the element at back of oven and conections via Fast-ons- Rick

How do i work the grill?

First things first. The oven element is totally separate to the grill element. The clock has to have a time set for either the top or bottom oven to work, whereas the grill will work without the clock being set.
The control knob for the top oven is the ONLY control that will turn the top oven lights on, the grill does not turn the lights on. ( If you want to watch your toast, you have to turn the top oven switch on to the first setting as well as operating the grill control).
To prevent the grill being operated with the door shut, there is a micro-switch on the door hinge that allows the grill to operate ONLY when the door is down. The grill control also does not illuminate unless the door is down. There are two options on the grill control - right or left. One way is the inner element only and the other is both inner and outer ones.

Grill element stopped working.

I had the same. Dismantle the oven and see at the back side the connection wires for the heat element. Mostly one of the connectors is faulty. I fixed it that way.
