The volume control knob has been acting strange since a few years ago on my Creative Labs Inspire P7800, i.e. turning the volume up will first decrease THEN increase, it will never be consistent going volume up or down. I am certain its a bad potentiometer, I have no problem going in and repairing it myself, my question is, what kind of pot should I use?

I'm looking, but the cables are just standard 1/8th inch cables you could just buy 4 of those.

SOURCE: speakers not working

The black/green/orange connectors go into the corresponding color ports in the back of the computer, but you computer have to be able to support 7.1 or at least 5.1 audio. If it can't you can buy a separate sound card from Creative that does.

SOURCE: Sound through right speaker is not proper Creative Inspire M2600

This sounds like an electrical problem in the speaker circuitry - between the speaker(s) and the control knob.

Creative used to sell replacements on there site but I guess they stopped selling them.

So what I would do is select your product at http://support.creative.com/

Then click on Contact Us

Next click on 2_blue.gifMy problem is not listed

This will get you to email support. Send them an email stating that you need a replacement. They will ether refer you to Customer Service or to the RMA department to get a replacement.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions

I have an audio system Creative Inspire p7800 and i can't find the cd to install it. I only have audio in 2 speakers. I want 5.1

actually two speakers are working because you are connecting the audio input cable to built in on board sound card jacks.
if you want 5.1 you have to connect the 5.1 sound card

Creative Inspire 5200 system won't work

Hi. Check your speaker system with a different audio device like iPod or any MP3 Player using the same jacks. If the speaker system gives out sounds then nothing is wrong with it... if no sounds come out, then you know what I mean...

Try to replace the speaker of your sub-woofer... maybe that can fix it!

Volume Control Unit has gone bad

The volume control is nothing more than small complicated rheostat.
If you don't know electronics take it to a radio repair shop. Just tell the repair guy to build you a new one using the old cord. That is if the cord is not what is bad! Take the entire unit with you. For a trained repair man it should be a easy thing to rebuild. I own a P7800 and if the control unit should break that is just what I would do.
