Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Take a look at this link so you can see what parts secure your agitator in place:

Also see this link for item number descriptions:

You have to lift off the cap (Item 1) and then the inner cap & washer (Items 22 and 23) to get to the mounting bolt item 21. You will have to use a socket and an extension to remove the agitator mouting bolt. After removing the mounting bolt you should be able to lift the agitator to free the shoe lace. Re-assemble in reverse order. Mounting bolt... inner cap and washer... then the top cap.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Does it agitate? If it does not then it maybe the coupler that connects the motor to the transmission. If you hear a clicking sound. This may be your problem.

The washer ate my favorite Christmas table cloth. It is new, rectangular and no stray edges or hangy things on it. I have gotten half of it out but it is ruined with little holes all over it. I guess it is...

There should be a cap located on top of the agitator. Pry off the cap and under that will be another cap. You can reach in and grap this cap and remove it. You can now see a bolt located deep inside the agitator. You will need a socket and long extention to remove this bolt.
With bolt removed reach to the bottom of the agitator and lift up on the agitator to remove.
After cleaning reinstall the agitator in the opposit way it was removed.
Sometimes if the fabric is fine or thin it can get cought under the agitator and tear.
