Hi Kelly, A fully charged battery is 12.4 to 12.6. and when the motors running it's 14.3 to 14.6... Three reasons your battery is flat (isn't charging), You have a faulty battery, A power drain or you have a faulty alternator... Clean your battery terminals and If you don't have a multimeter then Try jump starting your flat battery and driving your car for at least ten minutes then turned the motor off and try starting it WITHOUT jump start, If the battery's still flat then it's the battery, If your car starts straight away but won't start the next day then you have a power drain... If you jump start your flat battery and go for a ten minute drive but during that drive the motor dies without turning off the key then it's the alternator....
A mechanic or an auto electrician can usually test Free of charge if you can get it there....CHEERS..
I do not know what you mean by playing up, but if it is locking the car without you pushing the remote or the switch usually located on the door panel it may be the remote buttons are worn making contact by the slightest touch, make sure the case is closed solid, If the remote is working properly, disconnect the positive side of your battery for about ten minutes, then reconnect it. This will reset all the computers in the vehicle. In most cases this take care of electrical problems. It will take a while for your vehicle to relearn your driving habits but it is nothing you will notice. If this does not take care of your problem you may have to replace the small computer that operates the locking system.
I read somewhere I believe in Maxima Forums if you turn the ignition key to the ON position...not starting the car, and leave it on for ten minutes minimum without touching anything it will reset itself.
Worth a shot.
These vehicles have a built in antitheft system. When switching the ignition you interrupt this system.
You will need to do a system relearn after the new ignition is installed. It will not start until the new ignition is installed and relearned.
Step one. Put key in ignition, turn forward 2 clicks until right before it should start. Keep like that for ten minutes, NO LESS.
Step two. After the ten minutes, turn key back to off position for 5 seconds.
You need to do steps 1 & 2 a total of three times in a row without trying to start the car in between. The whole process should take roughly 30 minutes. After the last time waiting 5 seconds in off position, turn key forward and attempt to start the vehicle. Remember no less than ten minutes when forward, maybe do ten minutes and 15 seconds to be sure, some people even do 11 minutes.
To get your truck running with auto start first press the lock button and then hold down the semi cicle button for about 3-5 seconds this will start your truck
okay try this ,put key in ignition turn to on position for ten minutes ,roll window down so you dont lock keys in car before you do this. turn to on for ten minutes dont touch anything or turn anything on make sure all accesories are offthen turn key to off position for 10 seconds then try to start.
its important that you dont have radio or any accessory on during this process.
The security has been activated. you have to turn the ignition on, but don't try to start it, let it set for ten minutes turn it off without pulling the key out and try to startit. you may have to do this three times on ten off, on ten off, on ten off, then try to start it.
Good luck Randy
disconect your positive battery cable and touch the CABLE to the negitve battery cable and post for about ten seconds then let it sit for 5 to ten minutes then reconect it and start your truck. this will reset your computer and your sucerity. hope this takes care of it for ya>>>
the process takes about thirty minutes. in three ten minute key cycles. here is how you do it . make sure that the battery is fully charged. step on parking brake pedal and leave it down this will keep the head lights off. turn the key and try to start it then leave it in the on position. you have to leave the key in the on position for ten minutes. you will see the security light on. after the ten minutes the light will go off then turn the key to the start position. turn the key all the way back to the off position and count to three. then try to start it and leave the key in the on position for another ten minutes till the security light goes out. you have to do this same process three times to reset the security system. sometimes you get lucky and it will start after the first ten minute cycle.
I've got to be reading this incorrectly...You are driving, the engine turns off...you pull off the road? And then without touching the key the engine re-starts, but you haven't touched the key? Or, sometimes you need to sit there for a few minutes and then turn the key to start it?
