Hi, Elgin.
If it is onlt the power supply that is causing the issue, then it can be repaired fairly inexpensively.

However, alot of times, it might seem like it's the power supply, unly to find out that it is in fact bad capacitors that are causing the failure.

If it turns out that the capacitors are going out on you, then you may want to consider a new tv, as the cost of repair can sometimes be very expensive to fix.

I have seen tv's get repaired die caps failing, and after it was all said and done, they could have just went out and bought a brand new tv, for less than the cost of the repair itself.

The reason capacitors fail is due to poor manufacturing quality, be it workmanship, cheap casing material, improper formulas for the capacitance gel, poor quality welds, low quality solder, or just the fact that the parts are sometimes made in parts of the world where profit is the companies only concern.

From around 1995 until 2006 or 2007, there was a flood of these cheaply made capacitors, and they were put in everything from toasters, to subwoofers, car stereos, computers, microwaves, blood pressure machines, and on and on.

High quality caps should last between 25-40 years, but these cheap ones are sometimes lasting less that 1 year before failure.

I hope this gives you some ideas about your tv, so that you can make a proper decision on repair or replacement.

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA

Here's my suggestion , unhook all the external components to the TV and leave the TV unplugged for more than a few minutes (a day/overnight). The next day plug the TV into the wall outlet (not the powerstrip) without anything hooked up to it, and turn it on. See if it comes on. Sometimes unplugging for a few minutes/hours is not long enough for it to reset itself.

So when i turn on my sharp hd it turns off then the opc light comes on! Then the power light and opc light keep flashing!! Alls i want 4 it to work? Plz help

The television has gone into a coma. It is going to need to be serviced or replaced. The blinking code is a pattern. If you look at the power light and the opc light separately and independently, you can acquire the blinking pattern. Cover opc and look at power only. Note how many times it is blinking before it pauses. It might just blink steadily. Next cover power and look at opc alone. Note how many times it blinks before it pauses.

Depending on which model you have it might work if you leave the television unplugged overnight. The next day plug the television back in and wait for the blinking to start. Hold down the power button on the side of the television until the light stops blinking and turns red (usually right away). Let go. Press and release the power button once more and the light should turn orangish and then green. The television should turn on.

You can call Sharp and have a case file created and try and INIT with the customer service representative.

My Sony Trinitron shut down last night. I

4 times standby light blink shows that tv got problem in vertical deflection section and probably vertical output IC got defective, need to be replaced.
Replacement of parts in circuit board requires soldering work and expertise so call local tv repair shop guy if you are not familiar with soldering work.
Thanks.

Sony KDF-50E2000 shuts down and blinks repeatedly twice.

The 2 blink error is a temperature error and the 6 blink error is a thermal fuse error. You may need to unplug the set and get you a can of canned air, take off the back lower cover and blow out all of the fans inside the set.

Code 22 indicates that your set is in shut down due to what is called Short Protect. The most likely cause is the Converge Ic's drawing too much current and opening one or 2 fuses. Normal repair cost varies by area and servicer. Expect 250 to 350 plus the service call. I normally do this on site.

Tv cuts off and green light flashes

Yup, it seems a lamp problem can give a blinking green light over the 10 times (1 - 10 times for diagnostic codes), but in my case rather than replace the bulb if it works for a minute then resets with the green light blinking, do what I did.
Take the lamp out and inspect it, it has breather screens top and bottom, if it cant breath because there clogged with dust, clean them, and you can remove the screens, use q-tips and clean the inside. I saved the cost of a lamp and it's working fine!
