I OWN AN HP PAVILLION DV4-1283CL ENTERTAINMENT NOTEBOOK PC WITH A TOSHIBA 500GB HARD DRIVE. I GET A BLACK SCREEN WHEN I TURN ON MY LAPTOP AND IT WONT START UP. I WANT TO BACK UP MY FILES BEFORE GETTIN MY LAPTOP FIXED. I TRIED CONNECTING THE INTERNAL HARD DRIVE TO OTHER COMPUTERS BUT THEY WONT READ IT

Hi there from reading your whats you wrote this tell's me that your computer screen has gone bad. Because you are using a laptop you cannot change the graphic card,for you to solve this problem you need to change the screen.

Unseat and reseat the memory one stick at a time in each slot on at a time. After each reseat of the memory, turn on the laptop and see if you get video. If you still don't get video, go ahead and take out the hard drive and the dvd drive.

Then try turning on the laptop, if you still don't get video then the motherboard is bad and you'll need to get it replaced.

see if you can boot into safe mode as the pc starts tap F8 - should be presented with a menu - choose "safe mode" from the menu if that works, then try a system restore to before the problem started start>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore choose a date before the problem started

now u put out to another monitor by cable if u see screen in there ur lcd have problem, if black too it from ur motherboard , checking

I have read your problem and I think its a sure case of gone RAM.

Replace the RAM with a new one and your system will work fine.

if nothing(even hp logo ) is not coming on the display then please try this.
1.remove the battery and then press the power button for 30 sec.Again refix it and check.
2.If windows sound is there then this mught be the issue with display.

3.If there is no windows sound might be the issue with RAM so please get it checked.

plz try by resitting the ram if you dont know how to open the laptop then i will suggest you to take it to repair shop.
