We are a North American website, so we converse in English Laptop shutdown, detail pane not working, FAQ language change I have an HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC with Windows Vista Home Premium and I have been having some small problems recently: 1.) After about 1 hour of using the laptop, you can hear noises when the fan turns on and QuickTouch is hot! Unfortunately, then depending on how many files I open at once, the computer suddenly turns off! What could be the cause of this ??? Overheating issue. You can try vacuum cleaner with crevice tool against all the vents, but better to take to computer shop for strip down and clean. 2.) The detail pane doesn't work. When I want to (e.g.) Edit a piece of music, I can't change anything, the artist's name, title ... nothing. Everything is unclassified and unknown. A detail pane is just that, it only shows details. To edit, you need to save to hard disc and use an editing program to open it, make changes and save the changes. 3.) How can I change the FAQ to Polish? what OS, XP? we can't help you if you can not at least tell that.fact. the XP is infected,. re-Install XP with SP3.? do that yet (fill in OS name here xxxxxxxxx) XP is dead, and not supported and will re-infect fast. no game stated, (online offline, what>?) a web only game? surely we cant guess 10,000 games here. endless. the best answer is install windows 7 every day you use XP online , it will get more easily infected (read the world news ,see that ransom deal) xp is dead. You will have to replace the HDD

It's not listed in the Device Manager? Have you done a OS upgrade? Yes/No? Try reseating the Drive. Any damage been done? What happened prior to the issue?

You need to download the audio driver from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

Power drain would be a better solution in this case.
1.first shut down the comp
2.unplug the charger
3. remove the battery
and after press and hold the power button for 60 seconds without any charger and the battery.After the 60 seconds replug the battery and the charger and turn the computer .

This issue could be due to corrupt audio driver or corrupt BIOS settings on the notebook. To isolate this issue, uninstall and reinstall the audio drivers. If the issue persists, then update BIOS on the notebook. You can download the drivers from the HP software & drivers website of your notebook model.

You can find some programs on the net that will retrieve your windows key(serial number)...one is called "Get windows key"...good luck:)

What you're describing sounds like a hardware problem, not a software one, if the resetting occurs long before Windows loads.

As it's a notebook, my first suggestion would be to
make sure there's nothing wrong with the power point you're running it from, or the power cable. If you plug a desklamp into the same circuit (old-style incandescent globe, not fluoro) does it flicker? Is the power cable firmly plugged in? Has it been chewed by a pet?

Next run it without the battery and see if it still plays up. If it does still misbehave, you have a problem in the power adaptor or the internal circuitry of the notebook. If it works without the battery, the battery is on the way out and should be replaced.

check to see if you have the latest drivers and make sure your settings are correct.

is there a disc in one of the drives??? Sometimes having a disc in a drive will prevent it from lo0ading,,,, if not you're gonna have to do a system recovery

Install a new one. There is one screw in the bottom of the machine that holds it in. Remove the screw, remove the old DVD/CD, remove any mounting hardware that might be on it and install on the new drive, insert and replace screw. You are now ready to rock.

The only way you can install XP on a Vista machine is to install "virtual XP" onto Vista using Virtual PC 2007.

Please be aware that some drivers may not work whilst using XP when you have it installed.

It depends what program you used to add it in the first place. Open the software and look for settings, or just uninstall it.
