Could be connection via the LCD to motherboard on the laptop.

Could be a driver issue, usually gives inverted colors if the driver is not the proper driver or out of date driver

Could be a video card issue on the motherboard

BIOS issue, there maybe BIOS update to resolve this issue. Suggest you do this last, cause this is something you need to be especially careful off doing. If this procedure messes up, then your laptop is totally screwed. Think of BIOS as your brain, if something in the brain screws up, then your body will not function properly and you will be not the same ever again.

Go to settings, go to display, and move the bar up or look for icons at the top of your keyboard that looks like the sun and press them.  If your screen is still dark, then you need a new bulb.

You can log into your administrator account in safe mode and then delete your user account, then create a new account with another password.

restart you laptop and before you see the windows logo press F8 and then select safe mode. This will enable the administrator account and the default password is blank. If the administrator password is set and you dont know it you must use third party tools to reset the password. Check this out http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ss/ophcracksbs.htm
