To enhance performance is to enhance signal strength which can be accomplished with a repeater or an ACCESS POINT router with detachable antenna.

THen you can connect an omnidirection or bidirectional antenna which will enhance the signal.

You can check TP-Link products. Their routers are with detachable antenna. They have a grid antenna which is like a bid dish for detecting signals.

God Bless You!

How to Install Netgear Router Using the Wireless Device

hi john.
To install your NETGEAR wireless router using your wireless device:
  1. Get the preset wireless settings of your NETGEAR router. It is written on the back or at the bottom of your device.
  2. On your wireless device, open the WiFi connection manager and find the SSID or WiFi network name of your NETGEAR router.

Configuring NetGear N750 for Seperate Network

I recommend separate channels and different SSIDs for each router. Connect each device to each router you wish. Same channels with same SSIDs will create interference, your devices will not know which router to connect. Set up each router with a unique SSID and if you need a device to connect to both routers, ensure it connect to only one at a time.

I don't know how to connect my second laptop to the netgear router to get internet service.

Go to the first pc that is already connected. Right click your connection and note the status/advanced information, find the gateway IP address. Open a web browser and login to your netgear router. NetGear default is admin and password.

Now go to the wireless setup, note the ssid or name of your wifi network, also note the security encryption and phrase you are using. If you don't remember you can set it again there and save but then you will need to reconnect to it, if all else fails use a data cable and plug directly up to the router to manage it.

Once you know your wifi name and security key you setup, go to pc 2 and use the wireless utility scan or refresh you should see the name of your wifi network, click join to connect, it will challange you for the password. It if doesn't then all of your neighbors can use your internet and access your computers. Need to be sure to secure your wifi signal by managing it via the web management using your web browser.

I connect fine to it but cannot get to internet

This is not a trivial task but to start, I presume that your Wireless Router is connected to an ADSL or CABLE modem:
1) Make sure that you can connect to the Internet/Web directly from the ADSL/CABLE modem. 2) Once you have step 1 validated, connect your Wireless router to the ADSL/CABLE modem. 3) Ensure that you can communicate to the Wireless router and use Netgear supplied software - I suggest that you connect your PC/LAPTOP used for configuration directly via an ETHERNET cable attached to your router: 'NETGEAR's Smart Wizard™ makes the set-up of the RangeMax™ wireless router easy and hassle-free. Smart Wizard automatically detects your ISP's network settings, then walks you through each step of the installation proces' 4) When the installation is finish, try connecting to the internet via the ETHENET cable on your router. If it does not work, the FIREWALL on the ADSL/CABLE MODEM may be blocking the port and needs to be opened/disabled. 5) You can now concentrate in getting the WIFI working by first using an 'unsecured/no encrytion' connection by setting an appropriate SSID. 6) Once setp 5 is working, you SHOULD NOW SECURE your Wifi connection by using a selected encryption (such as WEP or better) and security key.
ps. you will get this 'limited access' message if anywhere in the device chains the IP addresses cannot be resolved.

My netgear rangemax does not emit a steady wifi signal. if i plug in my computer, the internet is working fine. all of the lights are on on the router. The wifi network shows up for a few minutes, goes...

Intermittent wireless connection can be caused by different factors, such as:

1. Wireless interference within the network. For best results, place your router:
- near the center of the area in which your computers will operate.
- in an elevated location such as a high shelf where the wirelessly connected computers have line-of-sight access (even if through walls).
- away from sources of interference, such as microwaves, and 2.4 GHz cordless phones.
- away from large metal surfaces.

2. Wireless settings on the router are still set to default. This may cause conflict with other Netgear routers within your network range.
- change the router's SSID or wireless network name.
- change the router's channel.
- enable wireless security on the router.

3. If the wireless connection is still unstable after performing the steps above, it is possible that the firmware is corrupted. Upgrade the router's firmware.

Netgear router dg834gt

Have look in the router settings for the actual internet connection speeds, as these are a more true reading than the speed check as the speeds can vary at different times of the day and 2 or 3 speed checks can bring different results. your actual connection speed that is showing in the routers settings is the connection you are getting from your ISP. If you are with BT they usually recommend using their latest routers, why i'm not sure, as the only thing i have noted is that the MTU is set at 1500 (Maximum Transmition Units)and in other routers the MTU is automatically set at 1493, so look for the MTU setting and up it if necassary, but not above 1500, also double check all the settings, even put the bt router back in and see if speeds improve, if, you know the BT router is set up purposly for faster connection speeds. Also try checking your speed at a speed test site at a quieter time of day, you will also see different speed check sites give you different speed results.
