Hi! i have recently changed my BT broadband router to netgear router DG834GT,i have used netgear router before on my 2 computers,it was working fine and functioning to the best broadband speed.but today i swap router and i found that the netgear is not functioning as it should be,really slow connections.so how can i amend it to get my min speed at 3mb or 4mb. i had a speed test and it is way below 1mb or 2mb.
Netgear r7000 speeds will speed up your WiFi 5! For maximum performance, enjoy fast WiFi speeds of up to 1900 Mbps and a powerful dual core 1GHz processor. For up to 100 percent more wireless coverage, high-powered amplifiers, additional antennas, and Beamforming boost range and dependability. Streaming and gaming are prioritised by features like downstream and upstream QoS, resulting in a lightning-fast, lag-free WiFi experience.

Have look in the router settings for the actual internet connection speeds, as these are a more true reading than the speed check as the speeds can vary at different times of the day and 2 or 3 speed checks can bring different results. your actual connection speed that is showing in the routers settings is the connection you are getting from your ISP. If you are with BT they usually recommend using their latest routers, why i'm not sure, as the only thing i have noted is that the MTU is set at 1500 (Maximum Transmition Units)and in other routers the MTU is automatically set at 1493, so look for the MTU setting and up it if necassary, but not above 1500, also double check all the settings, even put the bt router back in and see if speeds improve, if, you know the BT router is set up purposly for faster connection speeds. Also try checking your speed at a speed test site at a quieter time of day, you will also see different speed check sites give you different speed results.

so is that fast enough?? is it like what i should get under 2or 3MB speeds??
