To solve the problem, REPLACE THE BLACK TONER CARTRIDGE!!!
It doesn't get much easier than that.

HP Laser Jet CM1312 MFP internal error 0x50

Did the Ox50 error have any additional information with it or happen only with network printing?

Frequently, this error is associated with a font being sent to the printer with the PCL 6 (printer control language). The temporary fix is to turn the printer off and then on (to clear its memory).

Next try going to the Printing preferences by right clicking on the printer in the Printers control panel. (For XP, click Start > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. In Win7, click Start > Devices and Printers (or Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > View Devices and Printers). Then right click on the LaserJet CM1312 icon and select the Printing Preferences. Go to the Advanced tab and change the Print Data Optimization option from Advanced to Optimize for Text and Vector.

If this doesn't work, uninstall the printer (right click again). Then reinstall the network printer using the PCL 5 universal printer driver. All of the drivers are available here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3558903&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=3558902&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=4063 . The PCL 5 driver is the last one in that section.

If the printer is connected to one computer via a USB connection and then that computer is the printer server for the others, you may need to disconnect USB cable and uninstall both the universal print driver and the regular printer driver. Then reinstall them in the opposite order.

I hope this helps. Please add additional information about the error for more assistance.

Where do I go to get a manual for the 5150 PCL 6 on line?

PCL(s) Manuals, Guides, Tools, White Paper, Faq's:
  1. Allow me to begin by informing you that the only manual(s) available, are either technical or for developers. In my opinion the tech manuals would not do you much good, although you will find them at this same location, for those who may .
  2. Go to this url: http://spp.austin.hp.com/SPP/Public/Sdk/SdkPublicDownload.aspx
  3. In Kit Area Drop-down choose [Laser Jet and Digital Sender]
  4. Click + sign to left of "Laser Jet and Digital Sender" folder (patience, may take a moment)
  5. Click + sign to left of "Printer Languages" (huh?) yes languages (its faster, less +'s) :)
  6. Skip over Foreign Languages and Click + sign left of Printer Languages
  7. Click + left of (ta da) PCL 6
  8. Click + left of PCL 6 Documents
Here you will find PCL 6 Features, References, Supplement (from ver 1 to 2.0, to 2.2, etc), white papers, tips, specs, etc...

Beneath these selections are more choices (more +'s) i.e. + PCL 6 FAQ's, + PCL 6 Tools, etc.

And last... Open your Browser Window fully as each selection has a corresponding Download below the "Info Window" (Window with all the + Folders). Example: Click the + left of PCL 6 Documents, Highlight PCL6-Feature-Reference-Supplement-Version 2.0.... Once you have highlight that or ANY selection, under the Yellow + Folders, scroll way down to the Details Box (A Rectangular Blue Box) with a Download Button on it. Click Download to obtain a hard copy of the Document of your choice.

There really should be a home/business user manual, but there isn't. Although this is via 'slow boat to China' Route - It Will Offer All Available Information Required For You or Your IT Administrator.

PS. Note the + PCL 6 FAQ's, and +PCL 6 Tools Folders, as well.
