Ok several things to say on this subject: Lamps generally work when a simple power supply is applied, in the case of LEDs these usually need a DC supply and they are polarity consious. Modern cars are often fitted with a bulb failure warning light in the dash. If your driving lamps are covered by a bulb failure warning system then the LEDs bulbs will show as a failed bulb all of the time. Driving lamps are made with a parabolic reflector and glass lenses designed to aim the light in a beam to the road ahead. However LED lamps will have the light source in a different position to Halogen lamps which may result in a much less focused beam. Lastly you will need to connect the extra terminal to earth.
From your description it sounds like the lamp bulbs needs to be replaced. You need one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-50VS69-Watt-RPTV-Replacement/dp/B006C58MOI NOTE: DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS PART OF THIS BULB. The smudges from your fingers can show up on the image projected onto your screen and make things look blurry. Once you have the new bulb then turn off the TV and unplug it. On the back panel there is a rectangle on the left with a screw holding it on. Use a philips head screwdriver to loosen the screw then slide the rectangular panel to the left and pull it off. Inside will be the old lamp bulb. Use the screw driver again to remove the screw holding the lamp bulb in and pull the lamp bulb out (it may be hot). Insert the new bulb and then screw it back in. Place the panel back on and screw it back in as well. Make sure the screws are tight or the TV may not turn on. You can now plug the TV back in and turn it on. If done correctly this should resolve the issue.
You must locate your bulb (usually from the front lower cover of your tv). Some tvs the bulbs are reached from the back. Bulb replacement is about a 30 min job (if you're fast at taking screws out).
Here is a video of putting your NEW bulb in the OLD housing:
Just locate your old bulb, watch the video and you'll be running again in no time!
dcamp77262, you mention that the new lamp worked for 45 minutes and then the dark spot appeared, was this the same with the previous lamp and was the previous lamp the original that came with the projection unit? If you're using a replacement lamp(not original equipp) won't be the first time that they send a lamp that does not match the ome lamp, it also could be (very possible) that you're going to need light engine replacement or repaired.
Hi, Symptom shows Lamp is weak in result and causing restart of TV again and again. Your TV requires new lamp as per following part number... A1085447A* LAMP BLOCK ASSY XL-2200U It is available in Sony Accessories Store for $200 and replacement procedure is written in instruction manual of TV.
Always buy Sony original lamp for TV and avoid aftermarket / cheap lamp for TV safety.
3 times red light blinks shows that Lamp Cover is Open. Please put back lamp cover properly. I would recommend to always replace with Original Sony Lamp and avoid aftermarket or compatible lamps.
